Anyone have eternity band over 4 carats? Question

I haven't posted on LIW for a while, but I am having problems with my eternity band. My eternity band is 4.3 carats. Each diamond is about .27. The diamonds keep getting loose. It obviously needs to be reset because of this. The jeweler completely agrees and explained to me where the problem is (he said this happens when the diamonds are above .25 in an e-band). He is confident that with this new design I should be fine. But I was curious whether this has happened to anyone else?

Not to get off the subject or anything...but how can you have 'Married during a Hurricane' and have NO pictures in your profile! What kind of a TEASE is THAT!

I dont think it would have to do with the diamonds, but more so the with the setting. Then again, Im no jeweler. FM somethingblu (Sasha) since she knows alot about settings. Good luck and I hope it gets fixed.

is it an invisible setting eternity band or does each stone have their own prongs?

A few people that I know have eternity bands and a common complaint is that the stones fall out...good luck!

It is a shared prong setting.

Well, my moms has similar size stones to yours and it's an eternity band. I am not sure if it is considered 'shared prong.' Anyway, she has never had a problem. It's been well over 40 years of wearing it on and off, but most recently she has had it on for over a year. It is beautiful! It does make sense in a way though, that there could be issues with the stones coming out.

Anyway, I did see your wedding pics back in the day when I joined LIW. They were awesome! I hope you are well.

Sorry I can't help with the ring issue; my wedding band is half eternity (9 diamonds around) and 1.4 total

The reason why the stones are falling out is because it is a shared prong.

I have a bezel set I have not worn it yet (not married yet) I hope I dont have a problem

I spoke to me jeweler because I want to get an eternity band as well. She said that bezel set ring hold well. Also princess cut eternity bands with separate prongs hold well because each diamond has its own prong holding it in on all 4 corners. She did say however that some people have problem with the round stone eternity band cause they don't have corners to hold them in secure. Also invisible setting princess cuts settings have problems when jewelers try to 'cheap out' and put different size diamonds together. The size difference is so small you can’t notice but the diamonds don’t fit in securely enough and once one falls out they all go!!!
