When I print envelopes, I use the mail merge function in Microsoft Word. I've done some holiday cards and I did our save the dates on it.

Sorry I used Microsoft Word with the mail merge function too. It took me a lot of work to get it right. I must have done a million test prints on regular paper before everything came out right.

Same for me. . . keep trying. . . it took a bit of time and frustration. . .and wasted paper . . . and wasted ink. . . and quite a few wasted envelopes (make sure they are facing the right direction before you start and. . . um, why the heck did I go through all that when I could have hired a calligraphy person?? 'Cause I didn't have the extra money . . . BUT. . .after about 30 tries. . .FH and I finally got them right and then it was a breeze. . . I never thought to put all my addresses on my computer (although I am fairly computer literate I was still living in the dark ages of hand-written address books ) Anyway, after typing them all in. . . and figuring out the intricacies of printing envelopes, the end result was beautiful. . . and no one knew that I had done them myself. . . They looked just like the reply card envelopes I had ordered. Good Luck!!

Re: Girls who printed their own envelopes... I need your help!!

I printed my friends wedding envelopes (outer & inner) with Corel WordPerfect (thats what we had at work and I used a laser printer). They came out fabulous. I still have it saved on my comp, so if you have WordPerfect or access to it, FM me and I will give you more details (i.e., font, size, spacing, etc.)

Good Luck.

Re: Girls who printed their own envelopes... I need your help!!

we used mail merge (thanks to the help of some of the 06 brides) through Microsoft Word. We had to reprint only 4 cards because the printer was leaving a smear, until we figured out how to change the orientation of the envelopes. Once you get the hang of it its pretty easy!

Did you guys use a regular printer? How do you feed a 5x7 envelope into a regular printer?

You don't use the tray (with a laster printer). You use the manual feeder tray.

I just adjusted my document feeder width on my inket printed.

I did mine on MS Word. I set the dimensions of the envelope on my print options & typed in the addresses one by one. Pain in the A$$ but the finish product looked professional especially after I downloaded a beautiful font from dafont.com.

See, this is what I was thinking I would have to do. I might go insane after doing it for all the invites, but... as long as it works.

It's really not that bad. If you do like 10-15 a day... it won't take very long at all. I did this for all my save the dates.

Re: Girls who printed their own envelopes... I need your help!!

So in your opinion it's easier to just do each envelope individually, setting the dimensions each time, then using that mail merge thing?

I don't mind sitting there taking my time, I just want it to be done right

Well you'll have to play around with a few spare envelopes at first... but its pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Yeah, I'll definitely be practicing alot. I might be a grandmother by the time I'm done printing them all but at least they'll look good!

That is exactly what I did. I created a document that is the same dimension as the envelope, then manually typed each address. It was a real PITA, but they came out really nice.

Instead of wasting envelopes, I did a test run with a piece of paper that was the same size as the envelope, that way I could see how it would look.

I've never been able to get a mail merge to work correctly, so for me this was the easiest (and least frustrating) way to do it.
