DIY Photo Cube

Here are some pics of my DIY Photo Cube. This required a LOT of work. Not the assembly part, but selecting the pictures and re-sizing them and printing them so that they fit each frame size correctly. I spent a lot of time using PhotoShop...and I still don't know what the heck I'm doing when I use that software!

From Michaels:
Four 8 x 10 frames, black
1 large piece of natural wood for base
1 block of styrofoam for top
1 exacto knife to cut styrofoam
Black paint for base
Paint brush for base
Hot glue gun to set fabric on top piece
Batting to fill the top

We bought the brackets to secure the frames to eachother and the base at Home Depot. And the 'lazy-suzan' type spinning thing for the bottom was purchased on Ebay (I think they sell them in Home Depot also).

I bought the fabric at a local fabric store, and I bought the photo paper at Michaels and printed all the photos on my printer at home.

A bit of advice: If you want to do something similar, I suggest using frames with standard size photos. It was very time-consuming (i.e. frustrating) to get the photos to fit perfectly into a 3 1/2' x 3' frame (as well as all the other different sizes). If I had used 4x6 photos, it would have been a lot easier.

Re: DIY Photo Cube

Here are some more pictures - work in progress.

Notice the brackets screwed in to the top. We set the top on this to keep it from falling into the box and on to the cards.
