Re: gas surcharge?

OMG I wanted to ask this same question! I was quoted a gas add on of 15%!!! 15% on a $900 hummer is $135!!!!!!!!!!! I don't believe I need to pay that much in gas!!!!

Anyone else experiencing this? I just spoke with a co-worker who said every place she went to look at did not chareg this..........

Re: gas surcharge?

We are using Dynasty limos and they did not charge a gas surcharge. We already paid in full, so I dont forsee them adding this to a contract that has already been paid.

That is ridiculous and bad business. If gas is costing them SO much, they should just increase their prices and include it in the cost.

Re: gas surcharge?

What ticks me off is I was quoted a price without a surcharge 2 weeks ago.... then FH called to book it and the guy said 'did I quote Jennifer a gas surcharge?' and Rob says no.... and the guy says 'you're one of the lucky ones then....'.... and then I talk to the guy yesterday after If axed over the itinerary and he was like 'And the day of you'll give $80 cash to the driver and $40 gas surcharge' .... and I was like, but I talked to you and Rob talked to you and you said 'blah blah blah' and he was a little snotty and was like 'well, it's our policy to charge surcharge for fuel now'

sort of made me mad, not the $40, but the attitude I got with it....

Re: gas surcharge?

A hummer (normal....i don't know if a 'stretch' has a larger, modified tank) is around 33 gallons. [i googled and found a hummer review]

33 gallons at 3.20 a gallon [and that's assuming it can take 'regular' i know some $$$ cars cannot use 'regular') is 105.60. scary i know...but those things run on some serious fuel...i can absolutely understand a limo company charging extra for gas these days. they also get something stupid like 8-10 mpg.

Wow! Well it makes sense, but still, why would some companies charge and some not charge? I mean, I would much rather go to the company that charges the same price for the hummer with no surcharge.

Re: gas surcharge?

likely some companies started raising the price and just didn't tell anyone....like last summer/fall...and hoped that they hadnt quoted too many people in the winter/spring of 2005 who waited until January to book with their written estimates with the cheaper prices.

also, some might do such great business that the gas isn't hurting them as much...figure that if they run a pretty solid car/airport service, the drag of limos isn't as great on them b/c they charge so much for the town car to the airports service that it makes up for the gas loss...

all speculation here on my part of course.

Re: gas surcharge?

I've looked at 5 places so far and none of them charged extra.
