If you want a good laugh, listen to what FMIL did...

I told her I need 8 'growing up' pictures of FH for our video. So today she says to me 'do you want my wedding picture and your parents wedding picture in the video.' I say, 'no. I want growing up pictures of Justin. this is our wedding video.'

She was really serious! Tell me, why would HER wedding picture belong in MY wedding video?

I suppose this is only funny b/c my FMIL has caused so much drama and I am convinced she thinks this wedding is about her. Maybe I would have thought differently though if she had been normal....

No offense to any of the ladies who have done this or are considering it. I guess its based on each person's situation.

Uh... I don't know... maybe because their marriages are a part of your history and heritage, and in the grand scheme, their weddings are (presumably) a huge part of why you even exist?

I don't mean to be rude, but I don't see what's so funny about that. I think it's a perfectly reasonable question to ask, if you're already asking her for old pictures.

I agree. I wouldn't mind having my parents' and FH's parents' wedding pics in my video. Especially with so many divorces I think FH and I are so lucky to have parents that have both been married for so long and they are still in love. JMO

I think that if someone asks for pictures of someone's son growing up, it's a stretch to assume they asked for your wedding picture. In high school, they asked our parents (behind our backs) for baby pictures...no one's parents submitted their wedding picture then...why would they do it now?

I also agree. While you didn't ask her for her wedding pictures at this time, and she shouldn't have assumed anything, I don't think it's an unreasonable request.

We did have our parents wedding pictures at our wedding displayed b/c they are the reason we exist. Since they are both successful marriages, it's an example to live by for us.

While the timing wasn't right on your FMIL's part, I don't find the request to be funny, but normal.

And as for me, i would love to have both our parents AND our grandparents' wedding pictures!!! I love old pictures and the sentimental ties to when our 'ancestors' were united the way we are going to be!!!

maybe not for the video, but I want my parents' wedding picture and my FH's parents' wedding picture displayed at the wedding, in a frame. I think it's a bit weird for her to suggest for your video... unless YOU requested it for that reason. Maybe it would be nice to just have them on display at the wedding?

My uncle did this with his wedding video, and it actually was a nice touch. I didn't do it, because my husbands parents are divorced, but if they were still married, I would have done it. I think it's sweet.
