Thursday weddings?
Is anyone else getting married on a Thursday? Its amazing how much cheaper it is. My FH and I have a date set for April 12, 2007 which is the week following easter so kids are off school also that week.

Re: Thursday weddings?
were getting married on a thrusday! not only was it almost 1/2 price per head but the minimum that we wouldnt have been able to make on a fri-sun was dropped down to something reasonable as well. We had a long engagment so our OOT guests have plenty of notice. Were hoping that people will see it as a chance to make a long weekend, but in general thoes who really want to be there will .

Re: Thursday weddings?
Just so you know...I have heard that getting married on a Thursday is considered 'high Society' which basically makes it a great option for some people. My friend had hers on a thursday and since she is Jewish it was a great option because she did not have to wait until Sundown (shabbat becomes an issue). It was a very formal event, and it was beautiful!

My coworker got married on a Thursday. It was fun. We all took off work (including our boss) and it was a really nice time.

One of the Main reasons we went with a Thursday was also b/c of the lower min we could guarantee (sp?)... I have an 85 person min, and it's great that the price was more reasonable also. I'm getting the same things any FRI, Sat, or Sun bride will be getting for a great price... We are also on a very tight budget, so it helped. Our Thursday is the day 2 days before Veteran's Day, but Friday is Observed, so alot of people have off Friday. So my Thursday wedding is almost like a Friday night!!!
If you're worried if people will come, don't. I did for almost 2 years now, and I have come to the conclusion, after asking all my friends, and everyone said they wouldn't miss my wedding for the world!!!

Re: Thursday weddings?
One of my friends got married on a Thursday about 7 years ago. She is Persian and had well over 300 people at her wedding. That party was still going strong at 2:30 AM when I left!!!The people who want to be there will find a way to be there.

I was thinking about it but FH thought it might be a problem for our OOT guests... I loved the idea and I loved the price...

Re: Thursday weddings?
My friend is getting married on Thursday, July 3, 2008 because everyone is off of work that Friday for the 4th of July. So she got a better price, lower min, and it is like a Friday night since everyone is off of work the next day. She really lucked out. She is so happy. When she was looking around at catering halls, she was looking into a Thursday in July or August, and all of the catering halls said that a lot of couples are now looking into Thursday weddings. It is becoming very popular. And like the other girls said, the people that want to be there will definitely make it a point to be there and most definitely stay until the very end.

Re: Thursday weddings?
if you think of it this way, thursday night is the same as friday night in the sense that people will come after work to get to the wedding, and its the same as a sunday night because people still go to those even though they have work the next day! and some people might take off for friday night as well and make it a mini vaca!

I know I do!!!! I work steady Midnights with rotating days off!!!! Every six weeks I rotate into weekends, so doing it during the week is easy for me!

Re: Thursday weddings?
It might be cheaper but it is a problem for the bridal party sometimes. My bro is getting married on Thurs before a vacation and I am an untenured teacher. They don't take favorably to people taking off. Otherwise I have had several events on Thurs night - Sun night isn't that bad either - that is when I am getting married!

Re: Thursday weddings?
I'm going to a Thursday night wedding in August in New Jersey. Even though it is a little inconvenient (I'm missing 1 1/2 days of work), we are making a weekend getaway out of it (going to Atlantic City afterwards). We wouldn't miss our friends wedding for the world, so we can't wait to go!
