Help with Photographers; Palm Tree Productions??????
Hi, Ok I need help, I found this photographer in LI Bride to be they are 1000.00 for both photographer and video. It fits perfectly into our budget, so we went to look there work was very good. I received my contract in the mail and it lists the times of our ceremony and reception and what we receive in our package. How early should we tell them we want them to meet us? Should it say how many pictured they will take? I am completely unsure of how these contracts work. If someone could answer my questions I would appreciate it. Thank you.

$1000 for both photography + video is virtually impossible and you should be really careful if you are considering such an option. A reasonable figure would be that for EACH (perhaps!) and that wouldn't include albums or editing. Add it up yourself. Figure out the minimum that a professional photographer and videographer would cost for the day. Then add the cost of materials (film and processing). Supposedly there would also be an extra called profit, if you are dealing with a legitimate business. And then albums?? I don't think so. Number of proofs? Absolute minimum, perhaps 150 (we average 1000). Not even a reasonable 'cheap productions' cost for both. Be careful! There are many 'fly by night' and just starting out businesses out there.

Dear Hello2fun, I would meet the photographer and videographer at least 2 months before your wedding. I would also ask how many pictures you will be getting and how the video will be done. Find out about editing, and how many copies you will receive in the end. You should also ask to see a sample of work they have done in the past to make sure you like what they do before you sign a contract. Good luck with all of your wedding planning, and when you are ready to book entertainment don't hesistate to give me a call. Jennifer In The Mix D.J.
