alterations at phyllis at gownfind/bridal elegance

Ok,

So I have bought my dress from Adrienne's, but from what I gather, I should not be getting alterations done there when it comes in.

I am hoping to do this: pick up my dress at
Adrienne's and go to Phyllis. I have heard that Adrienne's has charged way over the cap that is on the contract for alterations, and I will not be dealing with that.

I wanted to know if you would let me know:

1- Who has had their dress altered at Bridal Elegance
2- Were you happy with how it came out
3- How much the cost was
4- What you had done to it

Thanks so much! Just trying to prevent dealing with Adrienne's and their foolishness.

Re: alterations at phyllis at gownfind/bridal elegance

my sister had her dress altered there and was happy with it. she just had a bustle and hem done. no idea of cost.

one thing to note, while we were there one day a girl came in with a dress from david's bridal and wanted alterations. phyllis told her that she wasn't going to be doing alterations for dresses not purchased through her b/c she didn't make enough of a profit on them. i'm not sure if she's changed her policy yet, but i thought i'd mention it so you weren't surprised if she had.

When I purchased the bm dresses through her, she said she would do mine, but she would take a look at the dress beforehand to let me know how much they would be....thanks for the info!!!

Re: alterations at phyllis at gownfind/bridal elegance

I am actually picking my dress up on Wednesday - I was very happy with Phyllis...my alterations were around $100 - that was for the bustle and taking it in on the sides - no hem.

I am wondering how they can legally charge more than the contracted cap?

I loved my seamstress, but I would not recommend my salon. My sister is getting her dress done at Bridal Suite of Bayshore, and the seamstress there really knows her stuff. We were talking to her about the bustle before my sister bought the dress b/c it is an unusually shaped skirt & italian silk, so it is very tricky to work with. She rocked my socks. Her name was Rosa.

I don't know either how they could charge more than in the contract, but I also don't want to stick around long enough to find out...LOL...One girl on here said that she got charged over 600 ...when the cap is 295 on the contract. I just don't even want the hassle, you know?

Re: alterations at phyllis at gownfind/bridal elegance

Since alot of people are saying such good things about Phyllis I just called to make an appointment - wish me luck !!

*** Vendor I Do Not Recommend: (quick story to fill you in) I saw the gown online then called the few retailers that had it available.....I went to New Best Fashions in Port Jefferson because she said she had my size but when i got there it was a size smaller. So I order it assuming it was an honest mistake. Three months later I call to find out she NEVER placed the order ! Then she finally places the order (I didn't go elsewhere not to lose my deposit)....and 3 months later (6 in total now) my dress has finally arrived.....and guess what ? she ordered the wrong size. So now I need to take it in more than a full size so I'm counting on Phyllis to be amazing...cause I need it !

Re: alterations at phyllis at gownfind/bridal elegance

Im actually going there on saturday. I had mentioned to her that I got my dress at Davids and wanted her to alter it...so I have to bring it in so she can see what needs to be done and give me an estimate. She also said once she gets busy she wont be altering dresses that werent bought from her.........she said at least i'll be in the book already.

My sister had her dress altered by Phyllis after purchasing it from Adriennes. She had extensive work done and phyllis did a great job. I had mine done there also and it was great!

Re: alterations at phyllis at gownfind/bridal elegance

I got my dress from Davids and had Phylliss do the alterations and make me a bolero jacket. I also had her alter a MOH dress that I got from another store.
She did an excellent job on both dresses, I was very happy.
My mom came to all the appts with me and she was like a nut checking everything out a million times to make sure she liked the way the alterations were done.
