Switching to Grand Floridian in Disney World!!! Question for Disney people...

I just watched the Travel Channel's special on the Grand Floridian, and tomorrow I'm calling my travel agent and switching my hotel from Disney's Beach Club Villas one-bedroom villa to the Grand Floridian lagoon view! It's only $20 more per night!! And it's SO special!!!

Question... for those who have gone to Disney on their honeymoon...

do you think there's a possibilty that they will upgrade us to the concierge level since we're on our honeymoon? That's an extra $65/night ($550 instead of $485 per night) and you get complimentary continental breakfast and beverages throughout the day and stuff. I thought I heard they did this for someone, and I wanted to see if any of you ladies heard the same?

Re: Switching to Grand Floridian in Disney World!!! Question for Disney people...

Disney's customer service and the way that they treat people has always, in my experience, been superb. IMHO, I would probably bet my life on the fact that they will upgrade you somehow, or do something really nice for you if you tell them you are on your honeymoon. The way that they treat the vacationer's is almost too good to be true!! It's really unbelievable and I love it there...

GREAT choice on the Grand Floridian BTW, it is definitely the BEST resort they have. Check out the $250,000 Steinway piano they have in the lobby-- and the floral arrangements!!!

YAY!!! You must be so excited!!!

Just to let you know, the Grand Floridian does not have villas. It is a lovely hotel, and you will love it, but the beach club offers villas and gf does not. Hope this doesn't change your plans.

It could happen. They bumped us up at the Contemporary, and we weren't even on our honeymoon, so anything's possible!

thanks for the heads up! I realized villas weren't so important as elegance for our honeymoon. i watched that travel channel special on The Grand Floridian and FELL IN LOVE. Now THAT'S a special place to stay on a honeymoon!!!! Even the STATIONERY gave me chills!!!! The cotton swabs in the room were The White Rabbit Cotton Swabs! Everything was Disney themed, and I love it! When we have a family, we can stay in the villas, and we'll appreciate the extra room, but for our honeymoon, I think the Grand Floridian is the way to go! (and they have the spa there, too!!).

I'm also going to hold off on booking the concierge level and hope they bump us up when we get there!

Unfortunately, my travel agent is CLOSED TODAY (for a 'family emergency', so I can't be that mad... I just wish SOMEONE was there), so I can't change my reservation today! I'm just nervous that the lagoon room I want will be booked by Monday, so I called and made my own temporary hold reservation through Disney in the meantime. I hate that when you book through a travel agent, you have to do everything through them.

I'm sure your travel agent already told you this... but book the dining plan. It's such a good deal! It's 38 per person per day, it included a counter service meal(entree, dessert, drink), sit down meal(appetizer, entree, dessert, drink) and a snack.

Have fun!

Re: Switching to Grand Floridian in Disney World!!! Question for Disney people...

FH and I went to disney as our 1st vacation and stayed at GF. We were bumped to the concierge building at no charge because we really wanted a king sized bed and our original room had 2 doubles. The only king bed available was in the concierge building.

Re: Switching to Grand Floridian in Disney World!!! Question for Disney people...

We are going to GF for HM - 5 nights - and then a Disney western carribean cruise on the Magic. Can't wait! 35 Days Left! I will mention the HM thing and see if we can get an upgrade at No Chrage. Can't hurt, right?

Picked out my flowers today - makes it so real now!

Jen
