awkward situation

Should I send a thank you to someone who's check bounced?
We are all very shocked because these people are normally very generous and it is not at all like them... but they haven't send a note or another check.
They were extremely generous at both our engagement party and the shower.
Its a very awkward situation. My mom is thinking about calling them, but I told her not to it would be way too embarassing for them. But she said maybe they don't know?

I would definitely call, or have your mom call. They might not know, or they may not know how to approach you with it.

I would definitely call them. They probably don't know. I have gone through this before. They will be embarassed but as long as its done in a nice way......

First I wouldn't call them at all, b/c I'm sure if you have the bounced check, they too have notification from their bank that it bounced as well. They're probably very embarassed themselves, which is probably why they haven't said anything to you. Maybe they're trying to rectify the situation. You never really know.

But even if it doesn;t get rectified I would still sedn them a Thank You Note. They did attend,and like you said they were very generous before.

The only thing is in my Thank YOu it would be very brief. you know like a Thank You for being aprat of out special day' very simple but still putting forth the effort..

still send a thank you. we had one bounce...i thought to myself, why compound her embarrassment with a lack of gratitude? she'd had a rough patch and it just happened.

yes you should send a thank you, you are thanking them for sharing your special day, not for the gift

Banks always send a notice to the person who's check bounced and the person who deposited the bounced check. So they got a notice too.

I would send a thank you note and i wouldn't call. I'm sure they are VERY embarrassed, as i know i would be. So if you just found out, which means so did they, they might be sending a new check as we speak. I'd still send the thank you card just in case, especially since they've always been very generous in the past.

to add, we got her check returned to us (she actually told us the check bounced) so we could re-deposit it if we wanted. she gave us cash though.

i agree too, these things happen. i sincerely doubt that they did this on purpose. i would still send the thank you.

thanks girls!! I know I can always count on you... I actually believe in sending a ty to everyone, but DH and my parents say otherwise. (oh well too bad!)

yeah, except our HM was two months ago, and we depostited the checks when we came home from the HM
