Country First Dance Songs
Hi ladies,I am a HUGE country music fan and I want to find a romantic country song for FH and I to use as our first dance. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking Me and You by Kenny Chesney or Cross my Heart by George Straight but I am open to any other ideas.
Thanks so much for your help

My FH and I were going to use 'Cross my Heart' but we changed to 'Me and You' by Kenny Chesney -Both are GREAT songs.
Others I like:
Home to You - John Michael Montgomery
Broken Road - Rascal Flatts
To Make you feel my love - Garth Brooks
I'll Be - Reba McEntire

Re: Country First Dance Songs
I think it's actually only borderline country but I love 'When you say nothing at all' by Alison Krauss. I actually wanted that for our first dance but it had a bit of a twangy intro so we were scared away but only 2 weeks later I kind of regret not using it.

Re: Country First Dance Songs
I LOVE the new song Making Memories of Us.ETA - here are the lyrics
Artist/Band: Urban Keith
Lyrics for Song: Making Memories Of Us
Lyrics for Album: Be Here
I'm gonna be here for you baby
I'll be a man of my own word
Speak the language in a voice that you have never heard
I wanna sleep with you forever
And I wanna die in your arms
In a cabin by a meadow where the wild bees swarm
(Chorus:)
And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll earn your trust making memories of us
I wanna honor your mother
And I wanna learn from your pa
I wanna steal your attention like a bad outlaw
I wanna stand out in a crowd for you
A man among men
I wanna make your world better than it's ever been
Chorus
We'll follow the rainbow
Wherever the four winds blow
And there'll be a new day
Comin' your way
I'm gonna be here for you from now on
This you know somehow
You've been stretched to the limits but it's alright now
And I'm gonna make you a promise
If there's life after this
I'm gonna be there to meet you with a warm, wet kiss
And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll earn your trust makin' memories of us
And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll win your trust makin memories of us

There'e one by Keith Urban that's really good, but I can't remember the name of it. I'll search around online and report it. Other good ones are:I could not ask for more- Sara Evans

Cross My Heart- George Strait
When you say nothing at all- Allison Kraus

My brother and SIL also used this for their first song - they did two. One by themselves and one with the entire crowd!

Re: Country First Dance Songs
Your Everything by Keith Urban is actually about getting married/being there....there's a line that reads 'i wanna be the hand that lifts your veil..'allison krauss actually did a remake of when you say nothing at all...and she's actually blue grass so the song is definitely country. the original version is by keith whitley...it's more amazing than her version, but her voice is so sweet that you hear hers more often.

Re: Country First Dance Songs
We used 'Bless the Broken Road' by Rascal Flatts....We're not really country fans, but the lyrics of the song were so beautiful...So many people told me that they got chills when we were dancing. Here are the lyrics:
Rascal Flatts - Bless The Broken Road Lyrics
I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Every long lost dream lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Every long lost dream lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
