Cruise to Hawaii for honeymoon?
I have always wanted to go to Hawaii for my honeymoon but I knew it would be too expensive. We went to the travel agent the other day and she offered us the idea of a cruise to hawaii...it stops at 4 islands...it's either a 7 or 10 day cruise...wth overnighters 2 nights is the best islands. The cruise is all inclusive. But i'm just afraid we won't get to see everything we want to see on each island. I think we are there for atleast 8 hours a day and overnight 2 days...I know it sounds like more than enough time..but do you think i'm being jipped by not staying on the actual islands? How anyone ever done this before or is planning to and has some advice? TIA !!!!

Re: Cruise to Hawaii for honeymoon?
My fiance and I will be honeymooning in Hawaii as well. We have to decide if we will opt for the cruise too. FH doesn't want to be on the plane for all those hours. I have to do more research on what option is better. We plan on staying for 10 max.Other option is the Caribbean cruise which is cool because the cruise ship port is located in Manhattan.

Re: Cruise to Hawaii for honeymoon?
We are doing 12 days in Hawaii..$6000 & we get
the air fare to and from Hawaii
the car on two Islands (upgraded to a jeep)
and 11 nights at 5 star hotels.
I am not sure what your budget it, but you can probably stay 4 or 3 star hotels it might be doable.
I don't know much about the cruises, but I know I had to add a day to Maui cause I didn't have enough time to do everything we wanted to do (road to hana, sunrise mountain bike tour).
What islands do you go to with the cruise???

You may be ablet o fly to california and take a cruise from their port to hawaii. The flight would only be 5 - 6 hours. I have done that but for a mexican cruise. it wasn't so bad.
We will probably try for hawaii...it is a place we have ALWAYS wanted to cruise to...we shall see!!!

you may like a cruise better because you do actually get to see the different islands of hawaii rather than stayin on one island. If you have 2 over nights that is MORE than enough time to spend on one island. I am a huge cruise fan so I push them...but I think for a honeymoon you will be relaxed and get to see a lot. I would choose 4 island over 1 in a heartbeat!

Re: Cruise to Hawaii for honeymoon?
We were seriously considering the cruise around Hawaii too, until we read some of the reviews on Cruisecritic.com. I don't know what other cruise lines do a Hawaiian cruise, but in terms of the date that we would looking to set sail, Norwegian Cruise Line was the only one. They have 3 new ships doing the Hawaiian cruises. These ships have an American crew, which is different from all other ships, which have primarily foreign crew. The reviews complain that the staff is not as courteous or helpful as on other ships. Given the cost of a cruise, as well as the fact that we would be tied to this ship and crew for a week, we're not sure if we're willing to take the risk that the crew will improve that much by next July.

Re: Cruise to Hawaii for honeymoon?
I love Royal Caribbean! My friend took a cruise from Seattle that ended up in Hawaii and she loved it (it obviously stopped in California too).
At the end of the trip, she stayed a couple of nights in one of the islands.

Re: Cruise to Hawaii for honeymoon?
I have a co-worker that stayed in Hawaii and then went on a cruise for her 1 year anniversary. I asked her what she thought b/c we love to cruise. She said that she liked staying in Hawaii better b/c you get to see more and she recommended me to this site Hawaiivisitorcenter.comWe booked through them and they have been great! They know a lot about Hawaii and can answer all your questions. First you can get an instant quote online and then speak to someone when you are ready to book. And they will totally try to stay within your budget. Check them out.
We booked:
3 days in Oahu at Outrigger on Waikiki Beach
3 days in Kauia at the Marriot
6 days in Maui at the Hyatt.
If you have any questions feel free to FM me!
Good Luck.
