Does Your FH Know What Gifts To Give You? POLL

I don't know if anyone's FH is like this... My FH always asks me what I want for my bday or xmas. Today I just gave him a much needed expensive briefcase as wedding gift. For his birthday I gave him an electronic gadget he absolutely loved.

I can think of tons of other gifts he would want, but the problem is when it comes to giving me gifts he always asks me what I want.

Is this something your FH has asked you? Does he not have a clue as to what you may want and ask you for a list of what you may want? Isn't the whole point of gift giving knowing or anticipating what the recipient wants?

please, i know FH is CLUELESS so i give him ideas randomly. does he EVER take my suggestions? NOPE!!! for example, our first xmas together - he got me beautiful silver earrings from tiffanys. perfect! i only wear white gold/silver. but since then, every piece of jewlery he's bought me (except e-ring) has been yellow gold! grrr - i don't wear it!! finally, i said something on my birthday this year... that the stuff is very pretty, but i feel bad because it doesn't get worn and costs him all this money; i don't wear yellow gold. so he says he knows i don't, but he'd like me to have some in case i do ever want to wear it! i guess it's thoughtful in his own way, but it's still sooo frustrating!! i always go out of my way to get him things i know he'll love and/or use!!
equally, his parents always get me gift certificates. so after the first couple of times, i told him some places i'd like gift certificates for, so he can pass on the ideas since they keep buying them for places i don't shop. does he mention it to them, ever? nope!!
i wouldn't even mind him asking me what i want; i know it takes something out of the whole 'gift giving' thing to tell him exactly what i'd like... but i'd much rather get something that i like or would use!!

Fh is great with picking stuff out for me-very creative. Last year for my birthday, I told him that I really didn't want or need anything and he drew this great picture of me and my dog-not fancy-just this great picture-I absolutely love it! And then he picked out a bunch of other small things as well. He's too sweet.

I have a great gift giver. He isn't the most creative person, but knows what stores I like and what I need. Like this past Christmas, he bought me a new laptop bag which he picked out on his own, he knew I needed one. He is really good at picking out clothes, knows the stores I like and nothing ever goes back. So he usually surprises me and does a good job. If he is absolutely clueless, he'll ask me but that's rare.

FH is getting alot better with the gift giving thoughts... I still have to give him a christmas wish list

FH always asks me what I want for Birthday, Christmas, or Anniversary. I wish that he would pick his own presents, but I know that it is only because he wants to get me things that I need. I will tell him things that I want and then he will usually get me that and a little something else that he picked out himself (and to be honest with you, I usually like the little something else better than what I asked for because I love gifts from the heart, no matter what it is).

The ONLY thing that he picked out for me that I had no say in was my e-ring (and he did AMAZING). I never told him what cut, size, etc. He really picked out the entire thing himself.

He buys me wonderful gifts. Usually clothes and/or usually something he thought long and hard about. I always look forward to his gifts. He also loves to give me perfume and then he likes to guess which one I am wearing.

Sometimes he buys on his own and does really well..rarely he does it on his own and it's a 'miss' but of course I always appreciate everything...

HOwever, for my wedding gift he knew I wanted earrings and had been looking...I tried not to leave hints because I wanted him to choose---however he came to me all cute saying he really didnt know what I was looking for and what would look good with the gown-and that he wanted me to be really happy with them on our wedding day-he didnt want to ask my mom for help-he wanted it to be just us...so we went shopping and found the earrings I wanted...and he got them for me, but I didnt open til the RD : )

The more time you're together, I think the harder it is to come up with that 'perfect gift' especially if your tastes aren't material.

DH is great at figuring things out. When he knows our anniversary, my birthday, or Christmas is coming, he pays close attention to our conversations and brainstorms on possible presents based on what I talk about. We carpool to work together so we have about 6 hours a week in the car where we talk about everything.

But after 7 years, it's not so easy anymore. What we do now is 2 presents. One present is something that we tell each other we want. That's usually a biggie. And the other one, we have to think of ourselves. It's usually more sentimental or cool than it is expensive. It's the best of both worlds!

My birthday was two weeks ago and he bought me the Tiffany mesh ring I asked for. But he also signed us up for a 1 hour private dance lesson, something I've wanted to do for ages.

My FH is amazing with picking out gifts for me. Its cute because he is great with gifts for all of his friends too. He really puts a lot of thought into gift giving.
