When you return gifts from your registry, do you only get store credit back?TIA

Sul and I returned a few things...not so much stuff, but we ended up doing exchanges, but we also got some cash. They said you can get cash for anything you return from the registry.

I returned a bunch of stuff and took the store credit so I'd be able to put it towards the things I didn't get off my registry.
