NWR: Student Teaching
So I went back to school to become a teacher and I start my part-time student teaching this fall. I just got my grade/class assigned...I'll be in a fourth grade classroom. I'm a bit apprehensive because all of my lessons plans thus far have been focused on like 1st/2nd grade. Do you think it's going to be harder for me with the older students? I'm so nervous and like freaking out!

Re: NWR: Student Teaching
I will be student teaching for only 3 morning or 1 full day and 1 1/2 day. Then in the spring I will be in a classroom everyday.

It's good experience because unfortunately with the job market the way it is, you will take any job you can no matter what grade. so better to experience as many grades as possible. You will do fine!!!! Good luck. ELA and MATH prep!!!!

Re: NWR: Student Teaching
I student taught 3rd grade last fall and that was the perfect grade!! I always thought i would want the younger students. But when i did field observations I worked with 1st, 2nd and 4th grades, and honesly it is A Lot easier with the older once because you don't have to focus as much on the petty stuff and making sure they are on the right page. Older students are more independed which makes it easier on the teacher.

Re: NWR: Student Teaching
fourth grade is great! i student taught there, as well as was a teaching assistant for a year and a half in this grade. the curriculum is awesome ... and the kids are very independent. i taught kindergarten this year and it definitely was a struggle getting used to the younger kids. but going from younger to older should be much easier! enjoy it! and let me know if you have any questions!Welcome New Vendors
