NWR : need advice

ok , here it goes
my best friend was givin a birthday party by a friend of hers
he gave her a check to put in her checking acount to pay for it
but we found out that the check was noo good
and her friend disapeared and phone was shut off
she is soo hurt by this and i feel so bad
the catering place called her and now she has to pay for the whole thing herself
and they even called the police so she has to pay a small down payment and them make payments every week

i cant give her much because between thw wed and my own personal finance probs

does anyone know of a place where she can get a loan without a credit check
i know thats hard to do but i just thought i'd ask
i feel really bad for her

Re: NWR : need advice

OMG! How does she know this 'friend'???

Do they have any mutual friends? Does she know the parents? How long has she known him?

She shouldn't be stuck paying if she wasn't going to have the party unless he gave it to her!!! That's TERRIBLE!! Who would DO that!?!?!

Does she have a card from him that says 'Enjoy the party' or something that suggests it was a gift from him? She could sue him, maybe? I feel so bad!!! I'm sure there are witnesses that know he was supposed to pay, including the catering hall. And keep a copy of the 'bad check' as proof that he INTENDED to pay for it! She should NOT get stuck! She'll find him eventually, and when she does, he should pay - even if you have to go on on of those t.v. show court shows to do it! They would eat this up! What an unusual story - so terrible for your friend, and she shouldn't have to pay the consequences.

Tell her to keep any receipts of whatever she has to pay until it gets settled so she can get her money back when you find the guy, but I wouldn't let him get away with it!!! And get that 'bad check' back as PROOF!!!

OMG I am sorry to hear this ~ this isssss so terrible! Have not a clue about a loan with out a credit check ~ maybe try opening a Credit Card or calling one of her credit card companys and see if they can increase her credit line!

good luck!
