dress anxiety

I really don't think I like my dress anymore. Is it too late in the game to get another?

Re: dress anxiety

Are you sure you dont like it? It looks gorgeous on you. I went through the same dress anxiety and a lot of other brides on here did as well. If you really dont like it you could get a sample off the rack.

Re: dress anxiety

I think it all depends on the designer of the dress you chose. Some stores also let you buy off the rack, so if you are that unhappy with your gown look into it. I think you have time. Good Luck.

P.S. I just checked out your album and I think your dress looks great on you!

Re: dress anxiety

IMO your dress is beautiful!

I think everyone second guesses their dress at one point or another, after seeing some of the dresses people wear, I've second guessed mine a lot! You could probably get something if you really wanted to though but, go visit your dress again before you do!

Re: dress anxiety

it's not too late, i got a new dress less than 2 months before my wedding. i am so glad i did as the new one was much more beautiful than the old one!

i knew in my heart that my old one wasn't right and i followed my instincts. there's pics of my old dress and new wedding dress in my albums.

if you're that upset about it, get a new dress...don't let anyone convince you that your dress is beautiful if you're not happy with it.

if you need any support, FM me.

Re: dress anxiety

I went through this anxiety that I was not going to love it as much, but it went away and i adored my dress -
it is not too late to get a new dress, maybe you should go to a dress store and just try on some of the styles you think you would like better, you may end up loving your own dress even more!
good luck

And what did you do with the other dress? My dress was more than I wanted to spend but I loved it and didn't mind sacrificing for it, I don't think I'd be able to cover the costs of 2 dresses

Re: dress anxiety

Have you tried it on lately? I think it looks GORGEOUS on you... but if you really aren't liking it then it can't hurt to go try on dresses. If you happen to find another one that you fall in love with you can always sell your first dress. But, really think about it b/c absolutely love your dress!!!!

Re: dress anxiety

It takes a lot of Designer about 12 wks to ship a dress (depending on the gown and designer).

It's not too late if that you really want to do.

Just beware before you set yourself for a lot of stress..........

- some designer will not be able to meet your timeframe.
- you need to give yourself plenty of time for alterations.

So.... if you really want to change your dress, do so but be open minded. That new dress you might love might not be available for you.

i didn't take it from the dress shop. i had only put a small deposit on it (i think $250) and they refunded like $150 of it to me.

i looked online at davids bridal (NEVER thought i would actually get my dress there!) and found a few styles i really liked. i went in and tried them on and loved 2 of them. i brought my mom and aunt back with me and they loved one in particular and i bought it on the spot. they ordered me a brand new one and it came in about a month. i got it altered and bought new veils from phyllis at gownfind.

phyllis told me she can order many dresses in a matter of a few weeks. if i had known that, i would have probably gone gown shopping and found a dress and had her order it. but i loved my new dress and it was perfect.

EVERYONE told me, including many on LIW, that they loved the old dress on me. but i hated it--and that's what mattered. it was MY wedding day and my pictures--it didn't matter what other people thought, as well meaning as they were and as much as i truly appreciated their help.

you should go back and try your dress on again. what is it that you don't like about it?

Re: dress anxiety

Thanks for all the help... I just think it's too big and poofy, I tried it on (like many gowns I saw) in like a size 6 which I clearly am not. It looked..less... not as much and not as big. I just don't think it flatters me very much. So if I don't like the dress in the end and wind up getting another, I just don't pay the rest of the balance? I am feeling less stressed about it, FH took me to red door to get a massage this afternoon and now I'm more relaxed. =)

Re: dress anxiety

I love your dress! But no it is never too late. Trust your instincts. If you are truely unhappy in your dress-I would get shopping. Nobody knows how you feel in that dress but you, and you should feel perfect on your wedding day.

Re: dress anxiety

I think your dress is GORGEOUS!! I had a similar situation...but mainly because I kept looking at other dresses. Once I tried on my dress I knew that I wanted to keep it. My salon would not have let me change it and to be honest this was the dress I chose after 20 or so gowns. I think you look GREAT in your dress and will look beautiful with it on the day. It's so hard to imagine it when you aren't all done up..but I say stick with what you chose..because you chose it for a reason.
