whats the reasoning for not letting people try

on your e ring ??? and why do they say its bad luck? just wondering...

I don't know where it came from, but I don't follow it.

Plenty of people have tried my ring on, it really does not bother me.

I heard its bad luck before you get engaged but not after - UGH OH I let people try mine on all the time...

i heard its bad luck for you to HAND someone your ring or for someone to put it on you besides FH

oops guess i have to marry the jewelry guy now HA HA

and i get around the first one by placing it on table and they pick it up and try it on - i KNOW its not bad luck because a bunch of my friends tried it on and like all of them are engaged now!

My sister in law is obsessed with my e-ring. Everytime I see her, see asks to try it on.....

I haven't had any bad luck...

All of my friends try on my ring and I used to do the same thing ....They always tell their boyfriends "this is what I want" hahaha it feels so good to know that it's my ring though

The only one who asked to try on my ring was my MOH and that was a couple of days after I got it and it hadn't been sized yet.....it fit her perfectly, so maybe that's the bad luck they were talking about!

I've never heard of it being bad luck, I just think it's weird. Tho no one's ever asked me that. My e-ring (and w-ring now too) was a gift from my DH, it's not something to be passed around so other girls can pretend their engaged/married too. They can look at how sparkly it is from atop my finger. DH gave it to ME and it has a very special meaning, I wouldn't want him passing around his ring!!

This is JMO of course, to each her own!!

The superstician is that if you are single and try on someone's ring, you will never get married. And, I get uncomfortable when people try my ring on, so I always tell people that

oh my god, everyone tries on my ring. the nail salon goes nuts when i am there. We have so much fun with it.
and all of my friends have different shapes, so we try all of ours on together all the time.

it is so much fun!!!!

ahhhhhhh if it means bad luck my wedding would be cancelled by now.....everyone tries on my ring! Doesnt bother me, just shows that Alex did well in that dept!!

I havent heard this also.... no one has even asked to try on my ring... (thank goodness my fingers were swollen in the hot days...) Everyone asks to see it but no one asks to try it on!

you kno it is funny...i always felt it was bad luck and not 1 person asked to try it on...and i would never ask to try on anyone elses...

just one of those things I guess...

I thought it was bad luck for the other person to try on an engagement ring or wedding ring and put it on the ring finger of the left hand.

Someone at work told me it was bad luck to take off your ring in general (to shower, sleep, etc.). She got so upset with me when she found out I took it off to shower, sleep, wash my hands, and sometime even cook, could you imagine if she found out I let people try on my ring as well. I think people have their own beliefs about it, but I do let people try on my ring as well, and I don't feel it gives me any bad luck. FH & I are very happy and I know our marriage will be what we make of it. My ring will not determine if I am happy or not <--just my opinion anyway.

Let me tell you a story when I got my e-ring sized...

I brought it back to the store for them to take it and resize it. I was sad thinking I'd be without it for a week or so. Then the associate took it from me and automatically put it on her hand as she looked up my records on the computer. For what seemed like forever as she filled out papers and tortured me, I just stared at my ring on HER finger. My sadness was gone and I just wanted to kill her. I kept thinking 'take it off biatch!!!'


I came home so angry. I told my FH the story and he asked if that meant if he was engaged to her. (Normally we joke all the time, hence our wedding date, but I was so mad when he asked me.) Now I look back and laugh.
