NWR: Pet Insurance

It's 4 am and i just got back from the Animal Hospital. My cat Milo was vomiting all day and had diarreah and he just wasn't acting himself. Over 2k later, I was told that he has to be held overnight so that he can get IV fluids and have other tests run on him because he has 105.6 degree fever and the vets can't seem to find the cause of the virus. So, now that I'm about to have to take a small loan loan out for this vet bill, I'm considering looking into pet insurance, g-d forbid I should have to go through this again. Does anyone have a good pet insurance company they can recommend? TIA.

Re: NWR: Pet Insurance

i'm so sorry to hear about milo. hope he gets better quickly!!

i have pet care pet insurance. though i think that the most popular is vpi. mine is a pretty high premium but they cover 100% after a $50 deductible. i've not regretted having it ever!!! the only thing they don't cover, like most other pet insurance, is the routine care (shots, annual exams, etc).

good luck.

Re: NWR: Pet Insurance

I'm SO SORRY to hear about Milo! Please let us know how he is! It always annoys me that the vet can never seem to figure out what's wrong with an animal, I hear it all the time.

I have VPI, you CAN get routine care coverage if you request that add on to your plan (for yearly shots) but of course there is a deductible.

If you have an older pet they will request the health history becaue they won't cover pre-existing conditions. I have it on both my cats, the more pets you own the cheaper it gets. My one cat is $29 and the 2nd one is $23. It so great to have the peace of mind

Re: NWR: Pet Insurance

thanks for your good wishes, everyone. it's 8:45 am and i was told it would still be about another hour before i get a call from the doctors to let me know how he is. my poor guy :( my stomach is still in knots. i'll definitely look into VPI----now if only i could get them to cover this most recent illness.....
