Re: sandals question
We just came back from the Sandals in the Bahamas and were very disappointed. But I heard St. Lucia is really nice and Jamaica.

Re: sandals question
I'm not sure if this is the same one as Negril or not but the Whitehouse one in Jamcia is supposed to be awesome...like beats the pants off the ones in St. Lucia (which I thought were pretty stinken fabulous...)

Re: sandals question
I've been to the Sandal in the Bahamas and the Sandals in St. Lucia (the Grand) and I love the Bohemian one best.
The Sandals in St. Lucia had rats near the restuarants (one ran right past me) and I was told the other ones in St. lucia did as well. Also, the Grand only has 2 nice resuarants for dinner. You can use any of the other Sanadals there, but they are quite a distance away. To me it was inconvienient. Plus the drive from the hotel is close to 2 hours, and the area you drive through is very run down.
I've heard great things about St. Lucia in Jamaica. Esp of the Whitehouse.
My FH mom is a travel agent and has said people love the Whitehouse.
Hope that helps
Gina

Re: sandals question
I don't want to make it seem like we didn't have a good time, we did. Sandals is the best! Can't beat all inclusive!
But it wasn't as great as I had hoped. I don't know quite what it was but I just like the one in the Bahamas better. The Royal bohemian has several resurants and there are casinos near by. Which gives you something else to do in the evening. I've been the the Royal bohemian twice and St Lucian Grande once.
I'll try to give you the pros and cons...
Pros
*the view from the hotel is beautiful.
*the water sports were outstanding. They include water tubing, water skiing, snorkeling trips etc.. (The Bohemian didn't include any of those in the price).
*There are 3 pools. the one in the center is the most popular with the swim up bar. There is another connected to the back of the hotel building that is nice as well. It's more private (no bar).
*The night activities were good. We enjoyed them. (however, the Sandals in the Bahamas always gave us a notice every AM about the daily activities. Here you had to check at the desk everyday.)
*They did have great music at night. There was a musician playing the sax.. he was outstanding.
Cons:
*I hated flying Air Jamaica.. so uncomfortable.. but that is just me. hehe The commute from the airport to the hotel was close to 2 hours long and it was a bumpy ride. The drive through wasn't that appealing either. Although it's really nice to see all the banana fields, the town is really run down and very poor. We never even left the hotel to see the town, it didn't look appealing and we didn't feel safe.
*I saw rats!!! One ran right by me. This was after being told by another guest who went to dinner at the Halcyon that they saw rats at the Pier restaurant. Gross!!
*The only 2 resurants that we liked for dinner was Toscanni's and Bayside (The food at Bayside changes every night.. so that is a plus!). The only other option was the Pub.. which we didn't like at all. You do have use of the other Sandals facilities and restaurants but they were a good distance away and after the trip from the airport, we didn't want to commute for dinner.
We had a great time regardless. And of course this was just our experience. However we did meet a couple from England who are Silver Sandals Signature guests and they have been to most of the locations and they said they like the Royal bohemian best as well.
It's all personal preference.
Hope I didn't scare you off or make you nervous. You are going to have fun no matter what. Sandals is great and you will be in honeymoon heaven!

Re: sandals question
No, but FH and I went to Sandals Ocho Rios and it was FAN-frickin'-TASTIC!!! There was construction going on in the hotel but it was still beautiful and VERY affordable. We went in Feb of 05 and it cost $3600 for the two of us for a 7 night, 8 day trip. The staff was wonderful, the food was excellent, and the beach was big. Not a huge resort so it was cozy, you could easily get to know the staff. If you end up going there, ever, make sure you order the Basil Special from Basil at the bar on the beach. Delicious frozen drink!!!!
