Need advice on picking the album pics! Please : P
Hello, I am new on this side although I have been married for about 6 weeks now..wow, seems longer than that. I am trying to pick out the pictures for the album and dont know how to do it. I started by picking the ones of our parents with us, then the bridal party walking down the aisle...then the ceremony...then the bridal party walking into the reception room, then our first dance, then aunts/uncles with us and now I have my 50! 12 are just aunts and uncles!! Should I make the album from the photographer a variety of pics from all over? Then do the 'order' in a regular album? Do we get the proofs that we give back to the photographer back? I have to pick them out by tomorrow night and was doing good until I realized I hit my 50 already! What did you all do? Thank you so much!!!!

What we did...
Our photographers asked us to pick 40 pictures out of a 700! Believe me that was the most difficult thing to do! I'm not sure about your photographers but with ours, we give them the photos we picked, they lay it out in the album, then we meet with them again to go over the album before it's sent out to print. We picked more pictures than required so that when we go over the layout we have extra pictures just in case we want to change anything. We were told we would get the proofs back once the album is done. We maintained the 'order' of the day for the album. Try to pick a whole variety of pictures for the album. Since you're keeping the proofs, whatever you don't pick can still go into an album you put together yourself. Good luck!

Need advice on picking the album pics! Please : P
We didn`t pick photos of the bridal party walking in. The shots I have of my bridal party in the album are outside the church and then some garden shots, one of me with the ladies, hubby with the guys and then all of us together. Remember you are the stars of your wedding album and it should tell the story of your day. You will have those pictures in proofs. Speak to your photography studio. They are there to help you with the selection of pictures that will best fill your album. Be sure to choose the photos you like and then go there and let them help you figure out which to eliminate. Don`t worry, it will all come together nicely in the end

We picked a nice variety from the day. The studio laid it all out for us and helped us finalize the order of the album. You do get all of your proofs back and as the ladies above mentioned, you can always make another album of the proofs or put them in frames. We really picked the ones we loved best and then worked from there.

This is what I did...
Perhaps this is not the best advice, but we looked at our proofs (over 750), and said to ourselves 'in a perfect world, where there were no limitations, which pictures would we include in our album'. Then, we put those pictures in a separate pile. It was a LOT of pictures, at least 110. Then, we didn't cut any more ourselves. We brought them to the photography studio, and sat down with the woman who works on the albums, and told her that we would like to pick from these. With respect to the bridal party walking in shots, you can also do a composite on a page where you have more than one per page, so it won't take up too much room. I wanted my album to tell the WHOLE story, so we ended up putting ALL of the pictures we originally chose, and even added some. I ended up with about 120 pictures in my album, where I had originally only contracted for 50. I didn't care. After the entire expense of the wedding, this is what's left, and I knew that once we had the album, we wouldn't really look at the proofs, so it was most important to me that I had the album we really wanted, and that it include everything we really wanted. We ended up spending an additional $1500 for the album at the end, but it's okay, because it was the absolute final cost of the entire wedding, and I knew I'd regret it if I didn't do it. So, that's what I did. Perhaps it's not the best way to go about it, but I wanted everyone who was there in my album, either at a table shot, or a dancing shot, etc. I wanted to get a good feeling of the entire day, so that I could relive it over and over. Just my opinion. I'm actually going to pick it up this weekend. I can't wait!!!!

Thank you everyone
I chose a few of the 'fun' pics for our main album. My mothers friend made us an album to display too so I will make that one the 'order' one. The photograhers will be the 'fun' one. I can fit more pictures into the homemade one so that will work better for us rather than vice versa. Todds mom gave me a list of her pics last night and I was surprised of the ones she picked so it made my decision easier. Thank you for all your advice..One more step done : P Now to start writing the thank yous!!Welcome New Vendors
