Re: size 16 and up brides

You can look at my dress in my album. It's an 'off-the-shoulder dress'. It was more flatering on me than a strapless.

Re: size 16 and up brides

actually, i have a large chest, hips etc....(it was weird for the sales people to call my an hourglass-i picture skinny girls to be called that...) any way, the only dresses that looked good on me, were strapless...everything else looked horrendous. Tell her just to try them on and see!

Re: size 16 and up brides

I ordered this from David's Bridal. It is a size 18.
It fits very nice. I didn't think it would look nice on me without Straps but it has a very nice fit. It goes up to a 24 I think.

Re: size 16 and up brides

In my album. I ended up opting to change the neckline and put halter straps on, but that was my own personal preference. I did love the way the strapless looked on me.

Re: size 16 and up brides

I think that the cut of the dress is more important than the strap/strapless part. She should be open to trying on anything.

When I started looking for a dress I wanted something with a sleeve because I carry a lot of my weight in my arms. However all the dresses with sleeves made my arms look like sausages and the cuffs made my arms looks huge! The strapless was actually the most flattering for me.

Re: size 16 and up brides

if anything, you have to watch out with the off the shoulders (although the first bride looks beautiful, maybe she doesnt have this issue) as a bigger girl, i have bigger arms and i know that when i tried that on, it showed my fat ALOT more .. i love the way i look in my strapless.

Re: size 16 and up brides

I am 6 ft and wear a street size 16/18. I think that strapless is fine, what is most important is the cut of the dress. For instance I know that an A line or an Empire waist would be more flattering on me than a sheath or a mermaid gown. Sometimes spaghetti straps etc, can actually make you look bigger. It also depends how your friend is shaped, all full-figured women are not shape the same. Some full-figured women have an hour glass shape, some have a pear shape, whereas other may have an A or an H shape. Some have smaller arms with a larger bottome and vice versa. I have seen many beautiful size 14 and up women in strapless gowns and they looked AMAZING!!!!!

Re: size 16 and up brides

I thought a strapless wouldn't look good on me ... but thats the gown that looked the best. Please, tell you friend to be open and try on all the different styles....She will find the right dress for her!
