Restaurant ideas for my brother's 30th bday?

Hey girls,

So I am planning a surprise 30th birthday party for my brother in March. He is a chef so it needs to be a place with really good food. I am looking for a fun loungey type place. Any ideas?? Thanks so much!

Re: Restaurant ideas for my brother's 30th bday?

Definitely try the Metropolitan in Glen Cove!!!

Their food is absolutely amazing!! They have weddings upstairs, but they have a smaller room downstairs, and it has a very city lounge kind of feel.

Re: Restaurant ideas for my brother's 30th bday?

I am not sure of the atmosphere of this place but what about the Epicurean Room which is the restaurant of the Culinary School NYIT in Central Islip. Since he is a chef I think he would be impressed by this place. My brother is also a chef (sort of) and when I got him a gift certificate to go there, you would have thought he won the mega millions.

sorry- Metropolitan I only priced them for a wedding, not for their smaller room. But for a wedding their prices were excellent.

Four has a cool atmosphere, but I've heard a few times now that the food is nothing to write home about.... mostly it is overpriced.

Mim's in Syosset is yummy and a cool atmosphere with a bar if you wanna hang out after.

There are also a ton of yummy places in Huntington Village and that way you can go out afterwards. There's a new Mexican place where Lola used to be that is good, there's Blue Hanu, Red, Jonathan's, Max's, the list goes on and on....

Cool Fish is awesome...I was going to suggest Four also. What about the Blue Honu? They have that upstairs room...we were there for an e-party and it was great.

Re: Restaurant ideas for my brother's 30th bday?

I had my bachelorette dinner there...it was awesome! The food was excellent and the atmosphere is very 'cityish'....Reminded me of a place the girls on 'Sex in the City' would hang out at. They gave us a package deal with everything from 2 hours of drinks to appetizer, salad, dinner and dessert. Check it out!
