Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
My church only does the rehearsals on Friday or Saturday nights. I am getting married on a Sunday. When should I have my rehearsal? I dont think I really want to do it the night before the wedding (Saturday) so it's either the Friday before the wedding, or the Satruday a week BEFORE my wedding. The only thing is that if it's the Friday of my wedding weekend, I think it's going to be hard for people to make it on time because of work, a Saturday would be better. But, the Saturday the weekend BEFORE my wedding, I fell that if it's too far away from the date of the wedding (1 week) that everyone is going to forget everything and the day of will be disorganized. Also, I dont have any OOT people that would be coming to the RD. They all live locally. What did everyone else do? Have their rehearsal the weekend of or a week before? Do you think a week before is too far away?TIA!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I am getting married on a Saturday and my church only did the rehearsals on Thursdays. I am very happy with that because then Friday is an easier day for me and I can relax.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I think that Friday would be the best this way you don't have to worry about getting to bed late and then having to get up early for your wedding.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I guess my respone is 'it depends'. The members of your bridal party are on LI, or are some people coming from far away? If on LI, I think Friday at 7pm or later. If some are coming from far away, Sat... (I agree that it is a bit stressful to have it the day before... but that's what we will have to do becuase of the 'far away' people...

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
It varies if y ou have alot of out of town people in the wedding - if so doing 2 weekends are tough. If not, I am going to do mine the week before. its a whole additional celebreation. the ones the night before you have too much to do -even 2 nights before is tough - I want to be able to hang out and not worry about getting to bed so early.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I've never heard of people doing it so far in advance by choice. This past weekend I was in a wedding on Sunday and the rehearsal was on Friday, but only because the church wouldn't do a rehearsal on Saturday. The bride felt bad because the OOT bridal party had to stay for 3 nights instead of 2. Any other wedding I've been involved in the rehearsal was Friday night for the Saturday wedding. I plan on having mine the night before the wedding because I don't want to take up 2 weekends of my friend's and family's time, but if your family doesn't mind then go for it!

This is exactly what we did!!!! If you do it a weekend before you are asking people to essentially give up 2 weekends for you. Think about anybody that has to travel past 15 minutes.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
Yea, all of my bridal party are local, none of them are OOT. They all live in Nassau County. But I know that some people work late on Friday nights. My sister works until 6, my brother usually until 8-9, etc. Im sure they could just leave work earlier but I don't know if it will be an incovenience for everyone to do it on a Friday night, or if I should do it the weekend before on a Saturday night. Definately dont want to do it the night before. I just want to relax that night.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
i was going to do Fri the week before...and i found that if the rest. doesnt have a private room then they wont allow a RD there! So keep that in mind! Also Fri may be a lil less $$ then a Sat night.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I'm also getting married on a Sunday. We're having our RD on Friday night. For people coming in its most convenient cuz they will be here. If it was two weeks before we'd be missing half our bridal party. As for the night before, I went to one once and the entire bridal party was hungover for the wedding. What wants to deal with that!Friday is perfect! You will have a nice rehearsal, then dinner, then on Saturday you go get a massage, a manicure and just spend the day pampering yourself for Sunday!!!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
My wedding is Sunday, and we're doing the RD the night before. I wanted to do this because we're having members of our Bridal Party come from out of town, so they can come in on Saturday and be there that night for the rehearsal and dinner, the next day is the wedding, then they leave on Monday. It's all together, instead of spread out. If we have it a week before, a few members wouldn't be able to make the rehearsal who live in California, Florida, etc.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
My cousin had her rehearsal dinner on Friday with a Sat wedding. My brothers had theirs on Friday with Sat weddings. They were late afternoon / early evening weddings.I liked it SO much better having the rehearsal dinner the night before. I don't know why, but it just made the whole weekend flow better...
I do understand people wanting a break in between, though. That is tough if a lot of the BP is from OOT.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
i think a week before is too much time. the rehersal dinner is fun, its like a pre-wedding party! gets you in wedding mode!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I would be concerned about having it too far ahead of time for people who may have to travela long distance for the wedding, then they would miss the rehearsal.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner question with poll
I am having mine the sat before JMHO-walking down the aisle is not all that hard and doubt anyone will forget what they have to do. In addition, the day you will have someoen from the church at the back pretty much running the show. I feel like the reherasl is more for the bride to figure out mentally how things will work the day of.Welcome New Vendors
