Reception hall choices????

I really like several halls and having a tough time choosing. Would really appreciate everyone's opinions. We are choosing between North Ritz, Woodbury Country Club, Swan Club, Watermill and jericho Terrace. Please help!

Re: Reception hall choices????

well you need to consider what you get for your dollar, the number of guests you'll be having and the size of the facility.
they are all nice places. good luck

Re: Reception hall choices????

We chose The North Ritz Club, why you might ask well 1) one wedding at a time, 2) not everyone and his brother has been there, we really wanted to have our wedding at a place that wasn't so 'well known', however it seems to be up and coming fast, 3) the decor and 4) location wasn't too far out on the island therefore convienent for our guests coming from all over. Just a few of our reasons, good luck I know its a hard decision.

Re: Reception hall choices????

What we did was narrowed our list to three possibilities (after seeing about 15 places). Then we went back a second time. We made a mental list of what was important to us. When we went back the second time, I guess the halls knew we were seriously considering them and many tried to woo us by giving us more in our package or coming down on price too! All of this helped us make our decision.

I booked the NRC for several reasons. 1-My wedding is in late October so I wanted a place that I loved the inside. Grounds weren't as much of a priority. It is great inside and gets better every time I visit. Everything is brand new (PS I booked during much of the construction so I have seen it come along nicely) 2-I wanted a lot of food and they gave me a lot for my money. 3-I felt really comfortable with the people who I dealt with. 4-I love having only one affair at time. The bathrooms are huge and only for my party. 5-The food tasting was great. 6-The dance floor is big.

All the places you listed are very nice. I have been to affairs at a couple too. Good Luck with your decision.

Re: Reception hall choices????

Im getting married at Jericho Terrace. The food is very good and they have alot of places to take pictures. It is a little expensive but to me its worth it.

Re: Reception hall choices????

I booked the Woodbury Country Club in June 2001 for our July 4, 2003 wedding.

I looked at 4 places: WCC, Fox Hollow, John Anthony's and Crest Hollow. I had a tough decision between WCC and John Anthony's, but after going back twice to both of them, I decided on WCC.

I wanted a place with lots of grounds and that certainly applies to Woodbury. It's a beautiful place and the food is exceptional. Everyone I have spoken to that has been to an event there raves about it.

Good luck with your decision. It's a tough one, but once you decide, it's like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

Re: Reception hall choices????

Well, back in June 2001, these are the prices I got for all the places I looked at:

WCC $85
Fox Hollow $85
John Anthony's $75
Crest Hollow $65

This is for Friday night.

Re: Reception hall choices????

Thanks everyone so far. My main issues are, NRC has a great menu, only bride, nice grounds, but if you have to have the ceremony indoors the room downstairs is very odd. WCC is a bit more expensive, the grounds are beautiful, great menu, but the room you get married in is OK, nothing special. Jericho Terrace has the nicest rooms, good menu(not as elaborate), many places to take pictures inside and outside, but no grounds. Watermill has very nice rooms, nice outdoors, but their menu would need some upgrades. These are my main issues. Thanks!

Re: Reception hall choices????

When I was talking about the rooms at WCC I meant the place for the reception is nothing special.

Re: Reception hall choices????

IF you like those places you should really look in to the Riviera in Massapequa. It has grounds and beautiful outdoors for the cocktail hour and the ceremony, it's also on the water and it's one wedding at a time and the prices are Very Reasonable. I looked at the Woodbury Country Club, Swan Club and Sans Souci and they were all Very beautiful but when I saw the Riveria I knew that was it.. Jericho Terrace is also an excellent choice. They are all Very beautiful and good choices.

Re: Reception hall choices????

I know it is a hard decision. I booked the North Ritz Club for Sept. 2003. Your coctail hour room is connected to the beautiful grounds which they just upgraded. You can take beautiful pictures outside. You are the only bride which is great! Also, the food is excellent. I hear people raving about the Ritz all the time. It was the most classy reception hall that I have seen. I definately vote for the NRC.

Re: Reception hall choices????

Thanks again everyone. I decided on NRC and booked June 8th, 2003. Do they have a list of vendors they suggest, or did you use your own?

We chose the Swan Club. We loved the grounds, the food was very good, they were reasonably priced, and they have been around forever.

DRJEN10- Congrats! I am also having my wedding at the North Ritz Club. I love it so much. They gave me a list of vendors they recommend so I am using their own vendors.

drjenn, I didn't use any of their recommended vendors. I am not even sure I looked into many of them. I went with people I found on my own or were recommended on this site.

Re: Reception hall choices????

We were in a unique situation because we had a place booked ( a private yacht club), but then the guest list got too big. So last week was a nightmare as I went all over the place getting price quotes. We got some unbelievable prices, but we went with the most expensive because I fell in love with the place- Villa Lombardi's. Remember, these prices aren't typical . Most of these halls will book at substantially lower prices within 6 mos of the wedding, because they'd rather have something than an empty room. We're also off-season. (winter)

Fox Hollow $58 http://www.scottobrothers.com/FoxHollow/FoxHollow.htm

Watermill $56

Mediterranean Manor $47 (worth looking into for those of you on a tight budget. Nice people, good food)
http://www.medmanor.com/

Villa Lombardi $69 http://www.villalombardis.com/html/main.html

Good luck!
