Honeymoon Dilemma...

I've mentioned a couple of times before about our honeymoon. We're using my sisters time share at Disney and Universal for a bunch of days, but have a few days to go somewhere else. Now I've been really, really, wanting to go to the US Virgin Islands. After seeing how much it's actually going to cost us, I can't see spending that much for only 4 days. I would rather spend that kind of money for our 1 year anniversary and stay a week there. I can't think of anything else we can do that has reasonable costs. I really wanted to go somewhere in the Caribbean, with bright turquoise waters. You know, the romance thing. I've thought about going somewhere along the Florida coast, but when I think of honeymoon, I think of the Caribbean, you know? Can you girls come up with somewhere else in the Caribbean we might be able to go for 4 days that's definitely worth the money, romantic, and relatively inexpensive? Thanks so much!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

I don't know exactly how much it costs, but since you'll be in Florida already, why don't you try to take a cruise from Florida to the Bahamas. I'm sure it'll be cheaper that way. Good Luck!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

Since you will be in Florida - why not take a drive to the Florida Keys - it is so beauriful there. The water is beautiful - great snorkeling and beaches. Just another idea -

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

Have you looked into the Disney cruise ship-- they have a lot of specials and is probably convenience sine you are already in Disney.

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

The carnivial cruises out of miami to nassau (fri-mon) are really not that expensive, and I bet you could get a good last minute deal, especially since you don't need airfare. Just get the least expensive cabin, there is so much on the ship to enjoy. good luck.

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

I would try the Bahamas or the Keys, both are pretty close to Florida and I'm sure you get a decent deal.

You could also try Carnival Cruises for a 3 day or 4 day Bahama cruise. Go to www.cruise411.com and get some rates.

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

I always recommend DR (Dominican Republic). They have some nice allinclusive resorts which are very inexpensive. There are always brides from Canada and England having their ceremony there. If you look into it look into Punta Cana. I liked it better than Puerta Plata as far as the water and beaches.

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

It depends on what you are looking for....If you want to party I would say go to Key West. But I wouldn't plan on driving there from where you will be (it's about a 5-6 hour drive). There aren't many beaches down there though it is more know for Duval Street which is lined with bars and resturants.
If you want something more laid back you may want to look into the Bahamas. It's only about 45 minutes by plane or you could take a cruise there. Atlantis is very nice (but it might be a little pricey, I'm not sure what there rates are you'ld have to look into that). It is a great place to go for just a few days (I wouldn't want to spend much more time there than that because you would probably get a little board). It has some really nice resturants and some great snorkeling.
I've been to both places and I live in Florida so if you have any more questions please ask and I'll try to help you out the best I can.
Good luck

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma...

I agree on the cruise out of Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Try 11thhourvacations.com and site59.com for deals. You can never go wrong with Key West. Drive is gorgeous and can you go wrong with the hometown of the guy who 'Maragaritaville!'

Anyway, funny joke I heard about the Disney Big Red Boat. Someone once told me when we considered it for our honeymoon 'The Big Red Boat is the best form of birth control for newlyweds.' That gave me a giggle. :)
