Back from the Rhode Island Wedding <>

THe place was absolutely grogeous - they shot the movie THe Great Gatsby there and John F. Kennedy and JAckie O. got married in the same town at this pretty little church - anyway, it was VERY different than a NEw York wedding but we had a blast!

No cocktail hour - just champagne and a few passed hors'dovers (sp?)
then salad, shell steak or halibut )which you had to decide when you sent the response card back - kinda weird and then cake.

We missed the church but got there in time to see them walk out and then my FH played the bagpipes. Im gonna try to attach pics - lets see if it works -

Oh wow, this reminds me of an old commerical for beef it's what's for dinner. The bride and mom are going through the response cards and everyone is going for the beef.

I can't wait to see the pics.

We went to FHs sisters wedding in FLA and it was the same way with the entree selection, I think its done like that almost everywhere except NY

My FH is from Rhode Island & we live in Boston. Which mansion was it at? I love Newport... we emt there & got engaged there (so queer)

The weddings here ARE so different: Up here, everyone asks the entree with the invitation. I find it SO weird. I found out its a money saving technique. That way, the caterer knows how much of what to order instead of guessing.

Also, most weddings up here are CASH BAR (gasp!). They also give gifts at the wedding. I mean toasters, sheets, towels... like GIFTS. Hardly anyone gives cash.

My FHs family is going to freak out when they see our wedding.... they don't know how we New Yorkers do it

Yeah i saw alot of gifts out on the table
it was at the Astor Beechwood Mansion (small, but absoluetly gorgeous!!!!)
