Honeymoon dilemma

We just found out that FH can't get the time off of work next year for the HM extravaganza we planned. I'm so disappointed. We are limited now to 1 week. Does anyone have any ideas of where to go? I don't want to go to a caribbean island (I've been to almost all of them) and a cruise is out. I want something that's totally romantic that I would never want to bring my kids to. But it has to be someplace that is not too, too far of a flight b/c of our time constraints. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

How about Ireland or somewhere in Greece - a few girls have gone there and it's completely magical!

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

we did an alaskian cruise two months after our wedding. It was a total of 12 days, but 2 out of the 12 were spent in Seattle which you could totally cut down.

There are tons of 1 week cruises. I would totally do that.

And I postponed my honeymoon and at first I was bummed but it was totally worth the wait. If you wait until you both have more time off, its not the worst thing.

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

How about London or Paris? We did London and Belgium on our HM last year (although it was 10 days), BUT we just got back from our anniversary trip to Paris and only took a week. We left Friday night after work (flight was at 10:00pm) and came home last Friday. Totally doeable in a week and definately romantic!

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

What about going to Cabo San Lucas or somewhere in Mexico? You can also do London, Spain or Paris for one week as well.

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

I would do Europe or Canada or Alaska. Alaska might be hard since you don't want to do a cruise thing.. only other form of transportation there is small plane or train (which could be romantic).

You can spend a bit more cash and leave on a friday night late for europe and come back on the following saturday and give yourself one day to get adjusted and this way only one week taken off.

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

DH is in the same situation, and we're going (in February) to Mexico - Royal Hideaway - it's an ADULTS only resort!

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I thought about Europe but isn't Europe on the same weather schedule we are? I had been thinking about the French Riviera but is it cold there now? My wedding is in November so I have to watch that. Has anyone been to Belize? And Chrissy, where in Mexico is the Hideaway?

I second Los Cabos, FH and I went there a few months ago and loved it!

I've heard great things about Belize and Costa Rica as well.

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

How about Bermuda? Have you been there? It's BEAUTIFUL ! ! You could either fly or cruise. FH and I cruised there 2 years ago and loved it. We took the Norwegian Crown which is a SMALL ship, but we liked it. Because of it's size we were able to dock in 3 ports on the island, not just one like most Bermuda cruises do.

I don't know how long the flight is exactly, but I know that they are just one hour a head of us, so there will be no jet lag!!!

Re: Honeymoon dilemma

I have been to Costa Rica in November. Hot, but every day at around 2 there's a rain shower, it cools down.
It's for the adventurous type. Lots to do.
