let me vent ..omg...my sample invitation came and its beautiful..and my mother had the nerve to say

where was her name ..your name ..your what ..i was stunned ..as i sat at my kitchen table with my jaw dropping ..i briefly told her ..ummm parents names are if you are paying for the wedding (even a lil bit)..and her reply was..ohhh excuse me .. gladly..wheeeeeeew thanks for listening

i wouldnt' worry too much.... putting the couple's name on the invitation is a fairly 'new' trend... so she may not be used to it...

I would be stunned also, Is she even paying aleast 1/3, well I guess not, if she replied that way. I realize something about this whole wedding planning stuff, dont let the small things bother ( in your case its not small, because thats your mom) but keep your head up and continue making yourself happy.

Im happy your invites came out beautiful.

Don't you just love the mommy? I think when a daughter gets married the mothers brain releases a chemical to make them unstable, pretentious, and completely irrational. Let it roll off your back. I'm sure it's the first of many!

I told my mother ahead of time about the proper form for announcements... she was okay with it.

leaving off the names of parents is fairly new and she may not have been aware that its so common.

Well, my mother not even my dad my MOTHER had the same discussion she wanted the wording to listthe parents inviting...I tried to explain thats if you guys are paying in full....she was not happy i said whatever not going to sweat it...but to the other poster ther is a chemical that is released in their brain

Well, there is a way to make your mom feel better. Just say 'well, if you want to give us money towards the wedding we'll be glad to add your name to the invitation.' Other than that, you and FH should be proud that you are paying for everything yourselves!!!

The wording is to let the guests know who is hosting the wedding And yes that translates to paying. If you and FH are paying yourselves, then you should be proud of yourselves for doing that. There are different ways of wording to incorporate parents even if they are not paying but in the end it comes to what you and FH (the hosts) want.

repeat after me, I love my Mother, I love my Mother, I might want to choke her, but she is my Mother and I love her Than have a glass of wine (well that is my preference) and take a deep breath.
