bridal ref, flower barn, camelot, delta, duet (11/25)

hey all!

back from the honeymoon and finally sitting down to write this... im not going to go into tremendous detail for each vendor, but heres my review:

bridal reflections, massapequa: 7
i bought my gown and the bridesmaid dresses from here. i absolutely love my wedding gown- krista, the girl that sold me my dress was great to work with. everyone else that works there was absolutely useless. in an earlier post, i told you all about my incident with the head seamstress there; the manager didnt do anything to help the situation. anyway....

the salesgirls that work in the bridesmaid side were all useless and clueless. anytime we went over to that store, it took a good 20 minutes for the girls to stop their personal conversations and Like, ask us if we Like, need any help. Like, yes, that is how they speak. plus, while i loved the dresses, the alterations on one girl's dress looked ridiculous. they were supposed to be fitted on the torso; this one looked baggy. ridiculous.... so, service wise and alteration wise, bridal reflections gets a 7.

men's warehouse: 4
honestly, i cant believe how bad mens warehouse messed up every single order. it was pitiful. dont go there. seriously. and, we're not picky or fussy people- they just messed up constantly...

flower barn, seaford: 9
mike is a wonderful, wonderful man. he was so patient and so helpful- stayed within our budget. very polite and arrived to our house on time the day of the wedding. he had a little trouble getting to the church on time, but that was due to circumstances beyond his control. everything was ready to go, however, when we got there. everyone told us how beautiful the centerpieces were (well, nobodys gonna say '*** is this'....) but i really liked them too. and the bouquets were all really nice. im not a typical girly-girl when it comes to flowers and bows and things, but i really loved the way everything looked the day of the wedding. and so did my mom, who is very difficult to impress...

camelot limos, new hyde park: 10
if you havent booked limos yet, definitely check out camelot before you go anyplace else- and then go back to camelot. we worked with joe- i think everyone works with joe- he's amazing and tons of fun to work with. the day of the wedding, both drivers were on time, curteous, professional etc. i also posted on some board about my experience with 2 other limo companies, so you can check that out, too. joe was our driver the day of the wedding- really funny, very sweet ... i cant say enough good things about camelot and how they took care of us.

delta music (greek band): 10
greek girls, if you want info on the band, and/or the dj that came with them, send me a forum mail. to this day (we've been married 21 days now) people still call my mom and dad and tell them how amazing the band was...

duet, huntington: 10
no, i havent seen any proofs yet, and i am rating without having seen 1 picture. however, these guys didnt stop clicking once throughout the entire day. we had the photo and video guys from 12 noon until midnight. they didnt sit down once. honestly, because of their accents i didnt always understand them, but my god do they know how to work a lens! everyone told us that they were great at the reception, too... always clicking, but not in-your-face annoying, either... in our contract, we have a guarantee of 700 proofs. i have no doubt that we will have at least double that. they were incredible. if anything changes after i get my pictures back, ill let you know :)

sandcastle, franklin square: 10
wow, do these people know how to throw a party. with the exception of one woman there named tammy, we had a wonderful experience with sand castle from the first day we went there, and every step of the way after that. the bridal attendants and maitre d's worked their butts off. as our guests were leaving, they all said 'forget the amazing food; the Service was unbelievable'.

food wise, i gotta say this- ive been to lots of weddings. to me, all the food is the same- cardboard chicken and frozen vegetables. when we went to the sandcastle for another wedding 2 years ago, i was blown away by the food and the cocktail hour. blown away.

the desserts were good too- we ordered our cake with buttercream frosting instead of fondant on the outside-i didnt want to spend another dime on the cake, because everyone said the sandcastle cake stinks. now, im not a cake person (more of a milk and cookies girl), but the cake (choc and strawberries) was Amazing!!!! and, whoever didnt like it certainly filled up during the vienese hour...

pip printing, syosset: 10
(invitations, programs, menus and scrolls)
hey, everyone else rates everything, why not pip- let me tell you, i checked out a few places for invitations, including some place in plainview called proper papers. then, on a whim, i went to pip. they had the same invitations that i saw in proper papers for way less money. im not saying everyone should run to the business card place for their invitations, but check it out. i found the same exact ones for way less money (regency flower, something or other). in fact, it was so great working with them in there, and i saved so much on the invitations, that we decided to order the programs, menus and donation scrolls, instead of doing them ourselves.

all in all, our wedding was unbelievable. the weather was perfect, everybody had a great time, and we really couldnt have asked for anything more.

im gonna give out 2 pieces of advice:
1- during your fittings, keep the dress on for a lonnnnnng time- at least 30 minutes. sounds stupid, but the day of our wedding, my stomach hurt so badly from my dress that it was ridiculous- im not heavy, i wasnt wearing a girdle or corset or anything, but for some reason, my stomach Killed. i even had bruised hip bones until the thursday after the wedding! make sure youre comfortable.

2- during your reception, you and your husband should sit back at your table and just take a look around at all the people that are there to celebrate with you. we did this maybe 3 or 4 times, and were amazed every single time. it goes so fast, believe me- even with an extended vienese hour, and an extra hour before cocktails, it flies. so make time to take it all in. yes you get videos and pics, but its not the same.

hows that for a not-long review?
