Writing my wedding review - can I give a bad review for a LIW Vendor???

Hi - I'm not sure of the official rules on this and don't want to get in trouble or have my review pulled or anything or get thrown off the boards.

I have a bad grade and not such positive things to say about a LIW Vendor. Nothing mean - just stating why we didn't like him and why the poor grade. Just not sure if this will get me in trouble.....can anyone tell me the rules.

I guess I could always say to FM me for details but quite frankly I'd rather put it out there so people know what went wrong.

I dont think you can get in trouble for it or get the post pulled as long as what you say is accurate. I've read many reviews in which LIW vendors were given not so good 'grades.'

yes - just be accurate, concise, and objective. if you really want to say some nitty gritty and are worried that it will get pulled, then write generally and like you said, put to fm you for any other questions. that's what i did.

I just wrote somewhat diplomatically that we had 'some issues' and I've received about a dozen FMs from people wanting more details. I felt I could be much more candid over FM than in a posting.

Can't wait to read your review, even though I know it was fab

its tough, b.c it depends on the specifics of the bad review. where they late, was the item wrong, etc.? or did they just not live up to the LIW hype.

good point - I think I will just simply say to FM me for details. Not late - just did things we specifically asked him not to do....didn't do things we asked him to do.....was just awful! It was one of our officiants!

after going through this myself, I would say stick to facts that are the truth. Also, if you are giving your opinion make sure you say so, so someone cant misconstrue it to be a fact.

You should be fine if you just stick to the facts and simply mention what went on...

Also, just be careful with FM.

I got burned BIG time by a girl on this site who pretended to be friendly towards me, through FM, to get me to explain my 'bad experience' with a vendor. Once I did that (even though I did it in a completely professional, mature and factual manner) she went to the vendor and TOLD him what I said!! He called Ron, threatened to sue and Ron contacted me to let me know basically not to talk about that vendor anymore or he would sue... So, you can still talk through FM a little I guess- just make sure you KNOW who you are talking to. What this girl did made me sick and it was completely under-handed!

She should be ashamed of herself b/c I did nothing wrong and I was screwed by a vendor, kept the facts straight, didn't get emotions involved and she set me up- went behind my back and did that! Shame on you (and you know who you are!)...

I told Vinny- God help that girl if I run into her at the supermarket or something JK

But- you should be fine, just be careful-- oh and so sorry about the bad experience with the vendor- that stinks!!

Thanks - this is interesting and now i'm scared to say anything bad about a vendor! If I stick to the facts and do state what happened - this guy could get pissed or something. We never had the change to tell him we were upset with his services so if he ever read what I wrote he'd probably be surprised. It wasn't worth it to us after the wedding was over to complain - it was all said and done at that point. So he has no clue we were even unhappy.

I'll be careful with FM - thanks for the tip!

Aww, you are welcome.

I did not want to freak you out but at the same time I did not want to have what happened to me- happen to you.

I mean, worst case scenario for me: He just threatened, Ron told me 'uhh be careful honey' (lol thanks Papa Ron ) and I was like 'OK, no problem'. I was more mad at the girl who set me up b/c that was just wrong. I mean, what was the purpose of that??

You FM me talking about everyday life- pretending to make small talk and then CASUALLY ask me what happened with the vendor lol and when I tell you-- you go and do that? Wow, what did that earn you in the long run?? Real mature

So, like I said the WORST thing that could happen would be him calling you or Ron and saying 'I don't like this'... Then you can just edit whatever, stop talking about it and move on-- It's just something I wanted to put out there for girls (and you) to see as a warning! B/c it really stunk when that happened!



PS, yeah you are right about complaining after the wedding- it makes no sense, what good does that do? It's just a warning for other brides that use that vendor so that maybe they can avoid the same things from happening... It's not like you are telling brides NEVER use him again lol... For my vendor, it was before my wedding that I found out he was terrible (I mean TERRIBLE- not just misunderstandings- but more like 'never use this guy again' )

And yes, I try to get the word out there about that as much as I can so that other girls can avoid the headaches!! It's not worth it! And I would not want it to happen to ANYONE!

My girlfriend had her HALL cancelled!!! Some girl figured out her name, where she was getting married (from her profile) and called the Hall to cancel... Luckily, they thought it was fishy and called HER first to make sure but still-- what if they didn't??

People are just sick-- and the girl that did this to me- ugh! How messed up-- just b/c this vendor happened to be the same vendor that she used so she felt like I was 'attacking her vendor'... Get over it-- it was not an attack and it does not mean you made a 'bad choice'-- you asked, and I told you the facts! She acts like it was a personal attack on her wedding decision So to 'punish me' (instead of blaming the VENDOR who effed up) she went and did that!

Like I said before- REAL mature

But I laugh about it now b/c how pathetic?!

It is OK to express your displeasure with a vendor in a review. It is not OK to say 'don't hire them' 'they totally ruined my wedding' etc. The best thing to do is be specific. For example, if you gave your DJ a do not play list with 10 songs and he played 8 of them, feel free to say exactly that in your review. It would be true, without emotion and without bashing the vendor. It's just a statement of fact as to what occured on your day. Nothing wrong with that.

it sort of annoys me because a review is only honest and more importantly HELPFUL if you're allowed to voice the good and the bad. otherwise, what's the point of reading a review that's not necessarily reflective of how certain vendors performed?

If you have any doubts about what you should write, you can always FM it to Ron to get his opinion on it before you post it...
