Vendors Board Vent

Am I crazy or has the use of the vendor board changed over the last month or so? I just read a post from a DJ who basically wrote this longwinded response about a previous post I wrote about being concerned with the focus of the vendor boards. I come here for honest opinions from brides and brides to be. I have used the vendor board and think it is a great resource for all of us to be able to ask questions of them. But until recently didn't we ask a question and they responded and that was all?? Now it seems like it is increasingly advertising and the threads are icreasingly intiated by vendors in response to things we are saying to each other.

This is not a knock an any particular vendor or bride. Really it doesn't matter to me and I will take the advice that has been given to me and cease reading the vendor board. But I used it frequently when I first started planning and I do think that some of the vendors are wonderful and have great responses to the questions that are asked of them. But I can't see the difference between a vendor reading our posts and calling on the phone and responding to us on the vendor board. Especially since I just got an earfull from a vendor who started his own thread to get his point across!

Just wondering what everyone else's thoughts are on this. And by everyone, I mean the brides who I have posted this question to! I know, I know, they are business people, but I have to wonder if maybe we should change the name of the vendors board to Vendors helping Vendors!

Again, this is not directed at one particular vendor and certainly not all of them, just a general vent.

It doesn't bother me when a vendor replies to a brides post here provided their response is straightforward and honest.

I don't like it when vendors post to tell us how great they are without provocation and I don't like it when a vendor replies 'I can help you, call me at...' Those responses are complete garbage and help no one.

But I have to say that there are several vendors on that side that are truly responding out of good faith and a desire to help the brides here. I still think its a great resource provided everyone understands some vendors have alterior motives.

I try not to post over there, i got attacked for a comment, I try to stay on this side for the most part with all the friendly girlies!!
