Anyone having a "Man of Honor"
I am very close with my brother and I want him to be my "man of honor". Has anyone mnaged to do this successfully? If so, how are you working it out? I know many Roman Catholic Priests will not allow this. Thanks for the help

Re: Anyone having a "Man of Honor"
My sister got married in St. Lucia and had my brother as her MOH. I was supposed to be the MOH but was laid up in the hospital. He "stood-in" for me. I'm not sure what the rules are for the churches here. I hope someone else has better info for you, good luck!

Re: I'm having one!!!
Instead of a Maid of Honor. He's my 14 year old cousin. We're very close. I always wanted him to be my Man of Honor. We're getting married in a Catholic Church, and they have no problem with it. I know a lot of these issues are different in every location. It depends on the priests. Our priest knows we live together, have been living together, etc. and they don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Re: Anyone having a "Man of Honor"
well, i haven't been successful yet, lol, but I am doing this on October 12! And my FH sisiter is the woman of honor!. (which works out great for me bc we don't get along, and I'd rather it this way). My brother was thrilled, everybody thinks its a great idea, the RC church has no problems. His boutenierre is going to match the groom rather than the BP, and that's all thats different. One of my BM is going to hold my flowers and help fix my gown, but my brother will be up at the alter. His sister will wait with him at the alter and my brother will walk down the aisle before the bm's. They are both making a short speech at the wedding. Good luck!

I think if these people mean so much to you, they should be allowed to particpate in your wedding the way that you want them to. I think it's a great idea... Go for it!

Re: Anyone having a "Man of Honor"
I agree! I'm having a Maid & A Matron of Honor, one bridesmaid and my guy friend (apart from my FH's groomsmen & Best Man) will be our "Special Honor Attendant." He will walk down the Aisle alone, be introduced at the reception alone & his job during the ceremony while walking down the aisle will be to hand out a single flower to any women sitting in aisle seats, ending with the grandmother & Mother of the Groom. So go for it, this is YOUR day, do whatever, who cares what everyone else thinks!

Re: Anyone having a "Man of Honor"
My best friend had a Maid-, Matron, & Man-of Honor. Basically he walked in with me (I was Maid of Honor) and just stood on the side with the rest of the bridal party...
It was no big deal. Sure, he took a lot of good-natured ribbing - I know he was honored.
