Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

It really depends on what type of vacation you are looking for. If you pick Italy, you will be busy everyday. In Hawaii, you wil be able to sight see and explore the islands, but you will also have the resort to relax in.

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

You don't have to be really busy in Italy everyday. If you stay in Tuscany or Venice, you can definitely give yourself some down time. With your itinerary, though, and trying to see that many places, it will be pretty busy.

I'm not a beach person, so I'd pick Italy every time. We're going for two weeks for our honeymoon. We're doing Rome, Tuscany, Venice, and maybe a day trip to Pompeii.

ETA - I think both trips would be amazing and you can't go wrong either way. You just need to decide what you'd rather do -- tons of sightseeing or more hanging out on the beach. Of course, you could also have an intense Hawaii trip, too, with all there is to do there.

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

Italy is amazing!!! I went in may with Fh to his grandmothers. It was a great trip. I would definetly recommend italy. You can relax there too. And there is so much site seeing to do. It's really a great place to go.

We are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon.

It really depends what you want. Hawaii is beach and italy is land.

What about 1 week at each place??

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

Hands down Italy. There is plenty to do and then when you are in the Amalfi coast go to Positano and lay on the beach!!!

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

well the two i believe are very different...

do you want a european type trip or an american type of trip...

italy - in the places you mentioned is romantic and can be as touristy or not touristy as you make it... there is beach and the amalfi coast is amazing.. the water, the food and the people are great.. you get the real feel of the culture wherever you go..

hawaii - i've never been too and we were thinking about it as well.. its more beachy and nature like with the american style to it...

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

I just had to make the same decision...and we went with Hawaii. My dad pretty much talked us out of Italy because it would be a less relaxing vacation.

Hawaii will be more like paradise and Italy is more on the go.

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

You can definitely make Italy a relaxing vacation, but I would personally not be able to go to Italy and not have tried to see EVERYTHING, especially since I don't know how often I'd get to go back. If you want a relaxing vacation where you won't feel guilty for having skipped out on something to see, I'd go with Hawaii.

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

When I was planning my honeymoon I was in the same boat.
I ended up picking Hawaii, for 2 Weeks,
I just thought a honeymoon should be on beaches and just relax & not be touring. Mean while we did ended up doing excursions everyday.

I just didn't want to be touring I wanted to do whatever we wanted to do.

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

I would go with Italy 100%. As beautiful as Hawaii is, it does not compare with Italy. Both are great places, don't get me wrong. In fact I'm going to Hawaii for my honeymoon, but that is just because FH and I have been to Italy numerous times. I think you can always hop on a plane and go to Hawaii for a few days, but you might not have the chance to take a 2 week vacation in Italy for a long time. Italy doesn't have to be sightseeing everyday and planning excursions from morning to night. You can relax in Italy, have a very romantic vacation and just take in the culture and your surrondings and I promise you it'll be a vacation you'll never forget.

Re: Italy vs. Hawaii

As previous posters stated, it really all depends on what you want. We chose to do Italy, mostly because I have been to Hawaii before, but also because we both love the idea of exploring the Italian culture. But each trip can be what you make it - beach relaxing or site seeing, touristy or non touristy. Believe me, I have been to Hawaii twice and I still have not seen everything. There are definetly a lot of things to see there as well - you can 'site-see' every day if you wanted to. I would look up both places before making a decision!

ETA: Our honeymoon to Italy will be a mix of both site-seeing and relaxation. We are actually renting a villa outside of Florence to spend a relaxing week wine tasting! This is the last leg of our trip. The first week will be Rome, the city of Florence, Pompeii and Pisa.
