Ok To Not Have A Bridesmaid or Groomsman?
My good friend has told me that she doesn't want a bridesmaid even though she has less than 3 months to plan her wedding.... her mother finds it odd that she hasn't chosen one by now...Honestly, has anyone seen a wedding that doesnt have a bridesmaid or groomsman?
What important functions do the two have that's absolutely necessary?
Thanks!

Honestly, if your friend doesn't want any BM's or GM, it's quite alright. I personally think its great to have the support of your closest friends on your wedding day. However, it is customary for the BM's to throw the bride a shower and bachelorette party, so that's something she might want. Sometimes the bride's mom can throw the shower, so that's another option.

My cousin just got married and had only a maid of honor and best man. They didn't want a big bridal party and if they started asking people, it would have wound up that there would be at least 10 on each side.

We're only having one BM, a MOH, and a best man. If we had a larger BP, it would have been ginormous and FH and I didn't want that. I think it's fine!

Well I pose this question because they are NOT having a single bridesmaid or groomsman.Isn't it important to have one at least to help during the wedding day to sign the marriage cert. or hand you the ring?

I think it is the law to have witnesses sign the marriage license, but you can ask your parents, etc. to do it. It does not have to be someone with the 'maid of honor' title

If your friend does not want to have one then it should be fine. They are just there to throw showers and assist her with little things but her family can help her with those.

Re: Ok To Not Have A Bridesmaid or Groomsman?
its totally up to them if they have ppl or not...im sure everyone will help out regardless of titles...they just need someone to be present to sign the license...but im sure that wont be a problem either.
