Re: Calling all Future In Laws...
Although I am getting a new son-in-law, I hope I can help. 'Slim' has made it very easy to accept him. Sometimes, although we don't try to be upsetting to him, I am sure we are. We like to tease alot ie. his nickname slim. Never a harsh word out of his mouth. He treats my daughter wonderful, is responsible, works hard and loves her to death. Who could ask for more. So, try your hardest never to be cross with your new family (something I wish I learned at an earlier age). They will love you I am sure. Remember you will be the mother of their grandchildren.

Dear Kimmie, I hope it gets better for you. You really deserve alot of credit..moving to another state with your husband and child. Sounds like you are wonderful, loving parents. Keep up the good work. Remember your child is the most important thing in your life. Keep your focus and remember what goes around comes around (LOL). AprilMIL

Re: Calling all Future In Laws...
I have tryed, so much. She just does not care. We have been together 4 years now and STILL she will ask my FI to go to family functions and not include me. I hope she sees that she will be pushing away her son, the more she does this. She isnt mean to me, she just ignores me, or doesnt include me in ANYTHING!! She never mentions the wedding or anything., I am fed up with being nice. We both are.

Believe it or not I love my FMIL!!! I have no parents left . both passed away, and even though she has her quirks about her she has been very supportive. It is hard to plan a wedding when both of your mom and dad have passed on at an early age. (53 and 60) I hope no one minds that I posted here because I am a bride but I was just curious to see the new board.

Re: Calling all Future In Laws...
Dear Princess, How nice to hear from you. I too lost my parents at an early age Dad 50 Mom 6l. Although my Dad wasn't present (spirit only) my Mom was there. I understand how you feel. Do you have an aunt or someone that you are very close to? I am now 48 and I have an aunt who stepped in and took my Mom's spot on all important issues in my life. She was one of the most supportive people I know, especially when I was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 4 years ago. Between Sasha and Aunt Sabina and my husband, I made it through. The point to all this is you learn to live without your parents (although the emptiness never goes away) and you learn to enjoy and cherish the special moments of your live...such as a wedding. It will be the most wonderful day in your life and your parents will be there in spirit smiling at you. Now enough heavy stuff..when is the big day?

PRINCESS I AM IN THE SAME BOAT YOU ARE I LOST BOTH PARENTS WHEN THEY REACHES AGE 40, AND I COULDN'T THINK OF PLANNING THIS WEDDING WITHOUT THE HELP OF MY FMIL AND FSIL, THEY HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT LOVING AND SUPPORTIVE!!!! WHEN I HEAR OTHER GIRLS COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR IN-LAWS I FEEL SO LUCKY TO HAVE FUTURE IN LAWS THAT HAVE TREATED ME AS IF I HAVE BEEN IN THE FAMILY FOR THE LAST 24 YEARS. I CAN'T PICTURE MY LIFE WITHOUT THEM. :) GOOD LUCK PLANNING I KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT DURING THESE TIMES..

I don't know how he finds these old things!
I have the best in-laws I could EVER have hoped for! From the first day I met them they have always treated me as one of their own. I never felt like the outsider. This includes all of them, MIL, FIL, SIL, 2 BIL & 2 Nieces
