Bedroom Set

Do you know where I can buy a nice bedroom set? Any recommendations. I don't want anything gaudi but something nice and kind of modern.

Re: Bedroom Set

We bought our house in October 2000, and spent over a year trying to find just the right bedroom furniture we could both agree on. I have to tell you we looked everywhere, and guess where we ended up getting it? Macy's Furniture Warehouse in Carle Place.... I love our set - it's a cherry finish, and we got a Queen size sleigh bed, a 6-drawer dresser with mirror, 2 nightstands, and an armoire. It's wasn't cheap - I think we spent close to $6500, but we put it on the Macy's card and had 6 months to pay it off without interest.

Just remember this - unlike living room furniture or office stuff, we felt that a bedroom set would hopefully last us a lifetime (replacing the boxspring and mattress is another issue!), and we didn't want to get something that dated it. We are very happy with it and know it was a good investment. We are still however on the search for good living room furniture!!

By the way, we loved a bedroom set we saw in Crate and Barrel. However, when we decided to go ahead and order it, some of the pieces in the set were discontinued, so we ran from there fast. There's a reason they discontinue things!!

Re: Bedroom Set

What's your budget?
I also saw a set in Crate & Barrel that I was IN LOVE with !!! I had planned on putting it on my registry, piece by piece. I hope that's not the one that's discontinued

Re: Bedroom Set

I really don't want to spend no more than $5000. Right now I am renting and hopefully within 3-5 years I will be ready to buy a house. Then I want to go all out on a bedroom set and completely redecorate my room.

Re: Bedroom Set

jennbaby - thanks for the great site! Do you know if they charge tax? I have bought from www.furniturelandsouth.com and they dont charge tax but do charge delivery. I will probably never buy furniture through a store up here again. The discounts are unbeliveable.

Re: Bedroom Set

Thanks Jenn. I am going to call when I get a chance.

Edited to say, Thank you all for the great info. I am looking into everything. My DH decided maybe to wait until after X-mas, who knows. Either way when I do get the set I will try to post pics.
