XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

Good morning ladies! Silly question: I ordered my gown back in Oct. 06 for my Nov. 07 wedding...approximately when do you think I should be getting the first call that it's in & that I should go try it on? I'd call & ask my dress shop, but they're ALWAYS really rude & lie to me all the time (that's WHOLE OTHER post), so I wouldn't believe their answer even if they told me TIA!

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

it seems a little odd that you haven`t heard from them yet. i ordered my dress yesterday and they told me right then and there that it will be in in september, actually they gave me the exact date i`m just not sure of it right now. but if you don`t want to call them because you think they`ll lie or just be rude about it i`d go right up in there and ask them so you can see for yourself if they are just making up stories. good luck!!!

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

i'd say generally 6-8 months is a decent time to wait. you're almost overdue, so i would give them a call.

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

Thanks so much ladies! Dealing with them tends to give me agita, so I usually just try to avoid it, but you gave me the courage. So I just called and after checking the girl is like 'Oh yeah - I see it just came in yesterday.' Ok - that's an awful big coincidence if you ask me, but whatever lol I'm going to try & get in there sometime next week to see...seeing is believing!

Thanks again!

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

I ordered my dress back in the beginning of August and they just called me in May to tell me that it was in. It took 10 months for my dress to come in.

If it goes past the 10 month mark and you do not get a call, I would definitely call the bridal shop.

I am sorry to hear that the bridal shop is rude to you.

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

I had to wait a whole YEAR for my dress to come in bc they scheduled it for 8 weeks before my wedding, but that's NOT what they told me. I was told 6-9 months.

Anyway, I'm glad it all worked out for you and it's at the shop!!!

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

it depends, my dress is taking a year to come in but they told me this when i bought it...depends on who makes the dress and how its made. Find out about the designer and how long they generally take to get the dress.

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

It does depend on the designer, but I found out from a wedding book why it takes so long . . . say you order a size 10 in style #123 by Maggie S, the manufacturer waits until they have a certain amount of dress orders in that size and style #. then they start producing them. I would definitely give the salon a call, I am surprised they didn't tell you when to expect it when you placed your order.

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

Thanks again ladies! Another reason why I was panicking a bit is because my gown [Maggie Sottero - Dion] was actually discontinued about a month after I ordered it. There was some drama with my bridesmaids dresses when we ordered them, so part of me was wondering if they got my order in on time. Luckily it looks like they did! I've been SO happy since I found out yesterday!! I'll post pics after we go next week...Thanks again!

Re: XP from 07 Brides: Wedding Dress Question

It definitely does depend on the designer- I ordered mine in September for my wedding (next month) and it just came in about 2 weeks ago. So don't panic, you've got plenty of time.
