Re: WOULD YOU LIKE A GROOMS CAKE?

Would it be a theme cake modeled after his construction work? That could add something unique and fun for him to the reception.

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE A GROOMS CAKE?

I think anything for a guy involving cake shaped like something he likes, that he then gets to eat, is a good thing. But what's the story with the groom's cake? why does it exist? nu, wedding cake isn't enough?

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE A GROOMS CAKE?

that's what I want to know! When did this groom's cake idea become in fashion and why? Do guys really want something like that for the wedding when there is already SO much??

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE A GROOMS CAKE?

I had one, a NY Giants-themed one. Seemed to make my husband really happy. It wasn't a terribly huge or elaborate one--didn't look like a 3D football helmet, for example. (And, yes, I could have done that.) It was just a simple chocolate cake with butterfream and fresh strawberries. Cost about $40 all together, so not a big deal.

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE A GROOMS CAKE?

I think the grooms cake came into existence so guys could enjoy a cake they think is cool. The same question could be asked about a "bachelorette" party, years ago they were called a "bridal shower" oh, wait the ladies still have that one too!!!!I think a groom's cake is a wonderful idea because much of the focus of a wedding is on the bride and its a way for a bride to let her husband know she was thinking about him.

Well said. It is something for the groom to enjoy despite there being so much else.

The actual historical reason for a grooms' cake is rather insane. It's way back when - they used to have a groom's cake as a separate cake at the wedding. The grooms' cake would be cut up and given to the single women at the wedding - for them to put it under their pillow so that they would dream of their future husband. I kid you not. My Wedding Planner told me she had looked into it..

I'm going to do one for my FH - incorporating all his fave sports - it'll be a Steelers Jersey with a Yankee hat laying on it, a Nets basketball next to it and a terrible towel on the jersey as well. I'm going to do it at the rehearsal dinner though...

So interesting!

Also note, that I think its cute to have a grooms cake. Anytime that you can include more things for him is key!
