HAIR day of wedding...who pays????

I finally chopped off my hair yesterday b/c this heat was getting to me....and I was talking to my hair stylist about the day of hair and who is getting it done...

Just curious...

who pays for the day of hair and what do we have to pay for exactly?

I'm thinking I'm going to pay for only hair:

1. koumbara
(which is the person doing the religious
thing in greek ceremonies)

2. Maid of Honor

3. My mother and FMIL

4. My 2 FSIL's even though they are not in the
wedding (b/c I know they are spending a lot
of money on me for the wedding...feel way
too guilty)

5. The flowergirls

Is this custom?

you pay for your own hair.

Typically BMs... FG anyone in the BP pays for their own (if they want to get it done)

I did my own hair for my brother's wedding and paid for my own at my sister's wedding.

Just try to get them a reasonable deal.

Yes, for all the weddings I've been a BM in, I've paid for my own hair.

If you paid for all those people, you'd be a very generous bride!

I feel a tad guilty b./c my BM are all paying so much money to be in our wedding. BUUUUUUUUUUUUT aside from FSIL, I have been in ALL of my other BMs weddings, so its kinda like payback =)))

yea, i'm so horrible...that's why i'm always broke. my conscious won't let me make someone pay...my guests will have to pay for a hotel, pay to come to my bachelorette party (since it's going to be away), pay for a shower gift, pay for a wedding gift, whatever other expenses, etc. I feel like the least I can do is pay $75-$100 for their hair. I'll just let them pay for the tip

You pay for your hair and everyone else pays for their own hair.

If, however, you are requiring your girls to get their hair styled or if you are asking them to all wear it the same way, it would be a nice gesture to pay for it... but you don't have to.

i paid for my girl's and both mom's makes up---to help lighten the weight of the cost. they were told a stylist was coming--and i gave them an approx. cost for the hair and they paid for their own. they were okay with it!

Well im paying for everyone., just part as a gift.
but you can just pay for yours / koumbara/ MOH.

For me about half the weddings I have been for, the bride paid and the other half I paid--depends on the situation!

Because I want very specific things done with my BM's hair, I am paying for it simply so everyone goes and gets their hair done.

My mom paid for me, one BM and my SIL (also BM). Paid for hair and makeup.

i am paying for my sisters ( moh and bm ) and my mom and fmil
I am going to give them that for x-mas.
I am not sure about the rest of the girls

but i think you should pay for everyones.

no, honestly it is a very sweet gesture to pay for all their hair but its a lot of $$$! it adds up mori. i am sure they will not think anything of it if you do not offer to pay. i bet they are not even thinking about you paying. but its definately a nice thought.

Eh, so did I but no one complained. I wouldn't have forced them to do it, but everyone planned on it anyway. They are paying for it. I've always paid for my own hair / makeup when I was a bridesmaid, and everyone assumed they would pay for their own.

If you do pay, it's extremely generous and hopefully the girls will appreciate it. You could consider that their gift for being in the BP.

My 2 jr bms are from NC and I'm not sure if their mom knows that they pay for their own hair and I don't know how to bring it up w/o being awkward! How did you let people know that you were not paying?

Hey.....I'm a greek bride as well and I am paying for my Koumbara, BM, and my mom. My FG is too young (she's only 3) and my FSIL & MIL don't live nearby. I understand where you are coming from though and I think it would be a well appreciated gesture!!

i think it's a greek thing though....b/c the people who do the religious ceremony pay a lot of money..they dish out all the money for the candles, the crowns, etc for the church, as well as ALL THE FAVORS for the guests!!! That adds up to over 3K. Plus, they are going to give us a gift for shower and wedding. Its really nuts. That's why i feel so uncomfortable telling them to get their hair done and asking them to pay. it's like, i just spent thousands on your wedding and you're making me pay the $75 for my hair???

ETA: and did i mention they pay for the church's costs?? it's nuts what these people pay for!
