CLM brides - re: Maitre'd tip

Okay, so we all know we pay a Maitre'd fee of $300.

Did you still give the standard $2-4 per person tip to the maitre'd or no? Did you go a little lower due to this fee? I've heard the fee is split between a few people but who knows. My first meeting was ages ago I barely remember.

Hey Tara,

We didnt tip extra, although I know a few other past CLM brides did. Do what you feel comfortable with, but I would say, if you DO end up tipping on top of the $300, go lower than than $2-$3 per person. I would probably only tip an extra $150.

They told us we had to, in addition to that fee . . . I didn't know it was optional

Technically, tipping is always optional...but you know how it is. It's expected.

Hmmmmm.......the paperwork is in my car so I'm going off of memory but we just met with Nick a few weeks ago for our menu. He gave us a paper that said it was optional, but typically, if you like their service you're supposed to give $1.50 - $2.50 per guest. But like I said, I'm not 100% sure on that amount b/c I don't have the paperwork in front of me.

And I think they also suggested you give the bridal attendent $50

Thanks so much Valerie! All of my paperwork is on LI and I'm in NJ so I feel bad having to post such redundant questions!!

The whole tipping thing stresses me out like mad. Now I wonder if I should be tipping waitstaff...I never budgeted for that!

We tipped the Bridal Attendant $50. We didnt tip the waitstaff or bartender. I KNOW some of our guests tipped the bartender though. We didnt tip the waitstaff because thats what the service charge is for -- the 18% you paid already.

The Maitre'd tip is completely optional, however they do sort of push it on you like 'we suggest you tip' blah blah blah. IMHO you should never ask for or expect a tip, expecially when you're already being paid a tip of $300 which you are requiring your customer to pay. So, therefore, we didnt tip any extra.

The maitre d fee of 300 gets split like 5 different ways although I dont remember the specifics. We gave an extra 250 or 300 I believe
