Buying Flowers Wholesale

I was curious where on LI I can buy flowers wholesale. My good friend will probably be doing the work for me. She's a wonderful artist. I have a lot in mind, but carnations (yes, carnations) that aren't spray painted are hard to find. I found amazing examples of carnations with roses, in their natural colors. Really nice. We are on a budget, so they would probably be the most affordable. Can anyone tell me where a wholesaler would be?

Re: Buying Flowers Wholesale

I dont know where exactly but my MOH got all the roses for my shower for some ridiculous low price in the flower markets of NYC. I think she paid $5 per dozen for beautiful long stemmed red roses so Im sure you can find equally good deals on carnations.

Re: Buying Flowers Wholesale

I was never really a fan of carnations until I saw the Martha Stewart carnation placecard bed. Drool, drool.

And I just saw this in Real Simple magazine (my new favorite)...the wooden bowl obviously wouldnt work but that could be easily changed.

Isnt that beautiful? Here is the text from the website:
The elements: Eight dozen red carnations

The container: A wooden salad bowl.

The tip: When working with mundane materials, the more the merrier. Cut stems to three or four inches, depending on the size of the bowl. Put a glass dish inside for water. Carnations are hardy, so if you change the water every few days, this arrangement should last two weeks.

Re: Buying Flowers Wholesale

Wow, that's amazing. IT's similar, sans the bowl, of what i saw in that Caroline Roehme book. THANK YOU. What magazine is this?
