8 days to my wedding and it looks like I'm getting a cold sore.

Its hard to tell yet, hopefully its not the beginning. Please pray for me that its not.

oh god that happend to me tooo 2 weeks before my wedding!!! I bought this tiny bottle of abreva (cost $18!!!) but i put it on as directed and I think it prevented it from spreading and getting worse. I did still have a scab for my wedding but it was covered with makeup and in a spot you couldn't really see it. But I think you should go to the doctor and see if they can give you something better since you only have a week to get rid of it.

My MOH gets them, she swears by Abreva

when my nerves act up i use o get them too,, try LYSINE ,, its nips it before it breaks the skin,, esp now if u think u are getting one , u prob are,, Its a pil form, waldgreens cvs sells them in the vitiamin section,, swear by it

Thanks Ladies, I've tried ABreva in the past and it works but it takes along time to heal. Thanks Toni, I will try the Lysine.

rest as much as you can, drink plenty of fluids, get your vitamin c in!!!

i get them from stress too...I swear by carmex...it just takes it away and if I use it as soon as I feel something coming on, it prevents it from appearing.

my poor FH gets them constantly in the summer...he's a lifeguard and the sun exposure makes him get them. he uses the same thing i do.

i had the same thing right be4 my wedding, put on abreva whenever you are just sitting around.

I know it seems like a lot of money but in the grand scheme it is not, go to the store immediately and get Abreva, put it on 2 more times than it says to , you won't get it if you think you are!!!! My cousin swears by this stuff!!!

Also, take an aspirin a day. Aspirin cuts the cold sore time in half.

you can get a perscription for Zovarax ointment that if you use now it will be gone in a few days. you have to use these creams with in the first 72 hrs of symptoms in order for them to be really effective. I recommend the zovarax 5gm. Good luck joyce!!! ETA: Taking L-Lysine 1000 helps a lot in preventing and stopping cold sores. you can get that at CVS or any pharmacy

Ditto- the dr. can give you something that will stop the virus from multiplying. It's def from stress!!

Start putting stuff on it NOW and go to the drugstore and get Lysene or Lysine tablets and take like 3-4 a DAY!!! Trust me it works!!!!

Your doctor can prescribe valtrex, its not just for herpes if you take the valtrex right away, it will stop the outbreak!
