Can somebody please explain what exactly happens to this board at the end of the year?

I feel like an idiot not knowing. But I haven't really paid attention to the other years and what happens. Does this board get locked and can only be used for looking up things? Am I the only one that doesn't know?

Basically what you just stated. Ron locks the Board, so you can review threads, but can't post on them any longer.
