finally going dress shopping!
I just made my first appointment to look for dresses!!! I'm going to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa next Monday! I can't wait, though I am nervous at the same time!
Any suggestions of people to work with or anything I should know before I dive in head first!?
TIA!

Re: finally going dress shopping!
Congrats and good luck! I found that it was helpful to wear a strapless bra and underwear that wasn't a thong! I tend to be a little 'booty shy!'

Re: finally going dress shopping!
I would wear Boy Shorts... Makes it more comfortable when you're standing in a room naked- lol.... Also, a stapless bra. And I brought pictures and those 'binder clips' (although most places have them) to hold the dress in case it's too big...HTH

Re: finally going dress shopping!
Thanks! LOL...I was wondering about the bra. I don't own a strapless one b/c I'm 'top heavy' and usually like to wear dresses/shirts with straps. So I haven't worn one in years. I used to have a long line bra, but I can't find it.I didn't know if it would be ok to wear my regular bra to try on dresses or if they would give me one!?

Re: finally going dress shopping!
I didnt wear a strapless. Either I took it off completely and wore a bra they gave or i just tucked the straps in.

I LOVED your advice. haha
When I went dress shopping for the first time I had no BRA and was wearing a thong - I am barely an A so the bra was no issue - they just gave me a VERY large one that did not make it easy to try on dresses. But I also found it very hillarious and uncomfortable trying on dresses with a thong - when the woman was right there heping me pull the dresses on and off. so funny!

Re: finally going dress shopping!
Hi bigrd37,I'm very new to the boards, but I saw your post and I also have an appt at Bridal Reflections next Monday too! I'll be there around 1pm. A friend of mine got her dress there and highly recommended them, so I think we're in good hands there.
Monday will actually be my 3rd dress shopping expedition. I'm going with my sisters on Saturday to another store where my sis got her dress a few years ago.
I first went to David's Bridals on Northern Blvd (Queens) with my mom back in July because I got antsy since we got engaged in May, and couldn't wait to finally try on a wedding dress. We got our BM dresses there from my sister's wedding, and had no problems, so I went back for wedding dresses. The 3rd dress I tried on was literally 'the perfect dress' and felt like a princess!! I wanted to wear that dress out of the store right there and then!! But I've saved a pic of a Maggie Sottero dress from 2005 on my computer, and I'm curious to see what it'll look like on me. Plus, before I make a final decision, I just want to see what else is out there for comparison so I know that the David's dress is THE dress. The David's dress is VERY similar to the Maggie one that no one seems to have in stock!! I've called 7 stores in Queens and LI and no one has it!
Anyway, I'm going shopping alone on Monday because I have the day off from work and no one else does. What time is your appt?
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the advice and good wishes everyone! I have a few dresses in mind (mainly jasmine) but I plan to try everything on. More than one person has told me that and I agree!
My appointment is at 5, the first time they gave me, so I guess a lot of other people have off and are going in the afternoon. So I don't think I'll see you CarrieAnne, but good luck to you too! I'll let you all know how it goes!
