So I Hit FH with SOO many new ideas....(LONG sorry)
Ok for the past few weekends we have had soo many weddings and now I am thinking about a lot of things. ( I think FH wants to KILL me....) but i really do need some advice.
First: Our church is about 15 minutes away from my house and I am nervous now that we are not going to have a lot of people at church. I had more of a chance of people that live in my neighborhood and friends just stopping by if it was close by. SO i asked FH is we could go back to my parish BUT i think they already have a 2 o'clock wedding booked. If our CH starts @ 6 is any other time too late????
Second: FH and I decided NOT to have a bridal party (well we are having Best Man MOH and 2 FG's) BUT i was just thinking how nice it looks to have all of the girls and blablabla. BUT 1st off is it too late to ask people to be in our bridal party and second should we just keep to no bridal party???
Ok lastly FH and I were thinking about doing donations at the wedding in lieu of a favor. But now he was like we should do a favor bc all of our friends have done AMAZING favors. BUT our family and friends have given bottles of champagne with candles, FULL demitasse espresso sets and so on. I just feel like it becomes a competition of who has the best favor you no. So i was trying to avoid that by doing a donation which i think i nice.
I AM SOOO SORRY for such a long vent but i think i am havign a meltdown!!!

Re: So I Hit FH with SOO many new ideas....(LONG sorry)
First I don't think 15 mins is far at all to go to the church
2nd as far as bridal party you have to do what makes you happy...your wedding is in june (as is mine!) and if you want to add people then you have more then enough time. But if you are happy with the way you have it then don't feel like you have to add people cause other people do
Lastly I am also doing donations in lieu of favors...I think most favors are so dumb. People throw most of them away and a donation is a great way to give back. Unless you are willing to spend like 4-5 a favor they are rather silly little things in my opinion. I got a huge platter at a wedding once and i have never used it...a candle? maybe people will burn it but most likely they already have scents they like, wine? Cute love it but you don't even get a full glass......just my thoughts on that:)

Thank you so much! I agree with what you are saying too about the favors. I think that the money can go to a good cause but i don't want people thinking we just didn't have a favor you know!!!

Re: So I Hit FH with SOO many new ideas....(LONG sorry)
Don't freak out! You have lots of time.
Call your parish to see if they could accommodate you and then go from there once you have your answer, but 15 minutes is not that far!
It totally fine not to have a BP. Many times they are more aggravation than anything else lol But I don't think its too late to ask people if you and FH change your mind.
FH and I are doing a donation instead of a favor-- there's a pic in my album under "invites" of the card we're going to put on everyone's plate. You have to do what you and FH are comfortable with. We prefer a donation over a favor, but there will ALWAYS be people who will disagree with it. To kinda get around this, we're setting up a candy buffet so people have something to take home other than the donation card.

Re: So I Hit FH with SOO many new ideas....(LONG sorry)
Doesn't it drive you crazy when you think you have it all set and then new ideas start pouring in?!?!?!
Here is my opinion -- do with it what you will.
1. 15 mins is not that far. Our church is 45 mins from where we live. It is centrally located for most of our guests but it is the parish I grew up in and that is what I wanted. People will come to your ceremony especially since there will be time inbetween. If you want time in between to take pictures I would not make your church any later than then 2/2:30.
2. As far as a bridal party that is up to you. No its not too late at all to ask people.
3. Favors should not be a competition. If you decided on a donation stick with it. If you want add something small to go with it -- box of chocolate, personalized M&Ms.

I think giving a donation is huge right now. Especially if the donation is close to your heart. If you wanted give something little to people on the way out like candy or something. At least then they can eat it and enjoy it! lol Put it in little baskets and let people take it...then you can feel they got something. But personally I don't think people will care. I am probably going to make Saches of jordan almonds to give out at the end...its a greek tradition (marrying greek) and inexpensive.

Thank you!!! I dragged poor FH to both church yesterday ) not knowing they were closed of course!!!! so today I am going to call my parish to find out. i think there is a wedding there already. I am so mad though bc we should have just done my parish to begin with!!! (ahh am i thinking too much into this??) LoL!!!!

They will go smoothly. You still have time so any "changes" will be fine. As long as you are both happy with your decisions then that is all that matters!

Re: So I Hit FH with SOO many new ideas....(LONG sorry)
No need to stress my friend!
1. 15 mins is not far at all - it's not like they have to be riduculously dressed up. they can deal!
2. if you want a bridal party, then ask some girls. if you feel like it's not a lot of time then only ask a few but you have plenty of time!
3. we're doing a donation favors are nice but i can't justify (for myself) spending all that money on something people will probably throw out.
JMO good luck!
