MOB Dress/FMIL Dress-What are your thoughts?

Hi.

It looks as though both mothers are leaning toward Lilac/Lavender for the color of their dress.

I was told that they could not wear the same color dress. Is this true?

I have 9 months to go, but I want to clear things up now.

Thanks.

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress

I'm not sure. I did read somewhere that they should contact each other to see what the other is wearing. I guess as to coordinate colors and also to keep from wearing the same one.

IMO I don't think they should.

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress

I've always heard that the bride's mother has first choice and then the groom's mother can pick her color.

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress

maybe they can get varying shades of lilac/lavendar...one could wear a dark shade and the other a light shade...i don't think the same color is really bad, but it would be better if they complemented each other instead...

JMO but I think there are worse things than them wearing the same color....I mean one could have chosen bright ORANGE!!!! As long as they are both happy.

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress-What are your thoughts?

I'll be honest it doesn't bother me... It's my day and I will be the queen for that day!!! but my gf's think it's ballsy on her part.. I mean, my dress is ivory, not even white, but I know that my gown willl blow hers away nonetheless..

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress-What are your thoughts?

I hate rules that have no meaning. The only one who should dictate whether or not they should wear the same color is you. Personally, I think it would be beautiful if they are coordinated. This is one of many things that I don't think matter unless it does to you or your moms.

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress-What are your thoughts?

I didn't want the Moms in the same color- in all honestly but I doubt they would have wanted that anyway. I think if YOUR mother doesn't mind, then it is fine. But if your Mom doesn't like the idea then honestly your FMIL should get another color.

Editted to say: Your FMIL should NOT wear her wedding gown to YOUR wedding. That is just wrong!

Re: MOB Dress/FMIL Dress-What are your thoughts?

My mom really does not mind as long as he gets to wear the color she wants.

These ladies have two different styles in terms of fashion.

I just wanted to know if there was some unwritten rule that says they should be different.
