How Did You Find LIW? Post your story!

Hey girls! I was wondering how each of you came to find LIW and thought it would be fun to share our stories! If you can remember how you found this great site, post your tale!!


I'll start:
I was living in NJ (now in PA) and looking for an old mansion for my wedding. I knew I didn't want to have my wedding at a hall in NJ. I had looked in upstate NY for something and couldn't find anything. I googled 'Mansion for Weddings' and came upon a LIW review from a past Bourne Mansion bride! Her review was so informative and led me to browse around on LIW. I realized what a useful tool it was! After reading her review and then contacting Lessings, DH and I visited the Bourne Mansion and booked it on the spot! From then on I was on LIW non-stop and never looked back!! I couldn't have planned my LI wedding without it!

I was googling wedding hair and came up with a post on here with tons of hair pics - i was actually posting on the site for a month before I realized it was LI region site

i heard about it from my mom 6 months before my wedding - she was doing a search for florists, and LIW came up - of course neither of us realized there was a chat forum until i booked the rest of my vendors! oh well i still had an amazing wedding

I was googling 'fall wedding ideas' and came across the fabulous fall wedding post under themed weddings. I fell in love with the site instantly.

An aquaintance suggested that I look on LIW to look for a vendor and I was hooked right from the start.

I googled something like 'weddings on long island' or 'long island weddings' and the site popped up.

08er BeachBum05 intro'd me to LIW, we were both on the knot and she told me how much better LIW was. I checked it out and was hooked from there! Thx Bonnie!!

Well, we got engaged a year out from our wedding. I am the first of my friends & first family member of my generation to get married, so I knew nothing about weddings or wedding planning. When we got engaged, I thought I had a few months before I would have to do anything 'because a year is a while away'. My dad told me that I would actually be best off starting right away, but I was clueless on how to even start finding vendors or halls.

My Mom came to the rescue & started googling to find any info she could about reception locations on LI. She came up with this site & told me about it the next day. I signed up for the vendor & reception hall lists. I didn't find the chat boards until much later though

Devon (DNicholes) posted pictures from her LIW album on the knot. I clicked on the link to check out her pictures and was hooked from there!

I had a vendor who I thought was really unprofessional and ended up breaking my contract with. I wanted to write a review on whatever site he advertised on to let other brides know that if they were skeptical that they should go with their gut. The review ended up getting pulled, but I have more for made up for that post by posting on here.

i was actually a knottie and i remember lanabean posting something about LIW so I logged on to see what this site was about and got hooked ever since....

As soon as I got engaged, I went to google and did a search for 'long island weddings' & the rest is history

I was at one of the bridal showcases at West Sayville Country Club and LIWeddings was there. When we got home we decided to join and it's a wonderful web site!!!

This is a fun post.

I had a cake topper in a bridal magazine that i loved. Double hearts with Sworski crystals. So i went the website that was listed on the page to chcek it out. i think it was Cake jewelry or something like that. I saw it loved it still. Decided to shop it around on the web.

Ended up on liwedding store website, bought the cake topper. When i saw chat on top of the screen i lciked it, went to 07 Brides and started reading all the post and signed up for it a few months later.

got engaged and knew we couldn't afford a razy elaborate wedding.... i googled something like 'affordable reception halls on long island' and a few posts from the site came up.....

lurked for awhile and then starting posting away! i even got my mom into it too! she's always asking about the girls and their weddings!

A co-worker of mine introduced it to me over two years ago. I've been hooked ever since.

i was planning my wedding from Tucson, AZ and didn't know where to being to find vendors. I googled reception halls and while I don't remember finding LIW through that search, I found it while searching for information on the preferred CBC vendors. I didn't use any of them because I found WAY better ones through this site

I don't know how I would've planned my wedding without it!! This site is an OOTer's savior!!

When we first got engaged...we went to tell my Landlady at the time, & she told me about LIW.

My SIL told me about 'The Knot' but once I got on LIW I was Addicted!!!!

I was planning from SC...and needed a list of reception halls so I just searched Long Island Weddings and it was one of the first searches to come up
