Need Info on a Photographers
A friend of mine is looking in to photographers and so far she looked at the websites from a couple of places. Looking at the website and hearing about the photographer and their work, from real people makes so much of a difference. Do you ladies have any opinion on the followingProline
Verdi
VIP
Spelman Studios
Cassarino
She wants a company that is not too pricey, has a nice style. She is probably not interested in an album. She wants her negatives to do her own re-prints etc. Any info you have on any of the above will be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Need Info on a Photographers
I booked Cassarino. They have many photographers so the only suggestion I can make if she looks at them is to be really specififc on which photographer she wants. If she likes a certain style then look at the albums and choose a photographer not a style. I hve heard nick is awesome.

I booked Full View Studios for Photo & Video. Very reasonable...they have a website. fullviewstudios.com I think. If not I know they are on the knot under NY vendors. They are located in Great Neck.

What is 'not to expensive'? I am super happy with my Mark Kauffman photos. I don't think he was too expenisve, but not sure what your friend is looking for in terms of cost.

Re: sent you FM
I am using Spelman and Christine has been a doll! She is able to do such beautiful work-candids, portriats, etc. I wanted someone who could do a variety of work and I knew would be nice to deal with. I really liked everything that was included with her packages and we must have visited about 13 photographers to find the right one. Spelman even does something I saw no other photographer do...it's a favorette album (I think that is what she calls it!). It is a mini album (pocketsized) with a limited number of your photos in it which you can carry around with you in your pocketbook for when people say 'I'd love to see your wedding photos'. It is so cute! Other brides on here have given reviews and were quite happy.

I would be interested in hearing about your decision. I too was thinking about Proline and Spelman. Any thoughts? nan3

Re: Need Info on a Photographers
Nan, I am not using them, I am already married. My friend is the one that is interested in the above photographers. She will start her calling tomorrow. When I was on the hunt for vendors I saw Proline and they were blah, they did not seem to have that umph to make me bok. They are the house photographer at CB. She is basically looking for someone who can give her, her negatives or the film, that can capture her day.

Re: Need Info on a Photographers
Sham, she doesnt want them to do her proofs?
You can try CAssarino, but I'm not sure that they will just hand the film over. I know though that they will hand over the proofs and negatives.

Re: Need Info on a Photographers
ok i've checked out 3 of the above----verdi is expensive---super nice people and from what i remember they do not include too much in their package--a lot of add ons----i am not sure if they would just hand over the negatives---most places i visited said you would get the negatives after 1 year----this is a husband and wife team (fiends of wild rose-so you know they are nice!!
)...........very creative--they have worked w/ models in the past.......spelman--very nice ladies --only 2 photographers--christine the owner and one other lady----average pricing.......again not sure if they would just hand over their negatives.........you get a decent amount in their packages---
cassarino----many photographers to chose from so you could find someone that fits your style.......get a lot for your money and they will work w/ your budget......very nice to deal w/.......not sure about the negatives--i know you can get them after 1 yr.....razz is awesome-tell your friend to speak to him!
hope this helps--let me know if you have any more questions

Re: Need Info on a Photographers
Shamma,We used Spelman, you've seen lots of my pics. They were mid-priced, I'm very happy with my pictures. We had serious time constraints in our day, if we had more time I know Christine Spelman could have been more creative. That was my error not hers. The price was middle of the road, I think we got a lot of quality for our money. About 80% of our proofs are truly great images. I recommend them highly.
