Re: Need to look for a dress.
I went looking for my dress early and it came in about 7 months later. Do you have an idea of what you want. Just walk into a bridal store to browse. Now is a good time becasue all the new dresses cmae out. Umm Lisa you have about 8 months to get your dress here start looking hop to it.
I got mine from Blanches Bridal in East Rockaway. I did not like Bridal Reflections or Bridal Couture.
Heard nice things about The WEdding Salon in Manhasset and Macys Bridal was nice also.

Re: Need to look for a dress.
I went to bridal reflections in massapequa, and I found my dress after about an hour. It will take 6-8 months to be in. Judging on your date you may want to start soon. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Re: Need to look for a dress.
It took me from October 5th through December 7, when I actually paid for the dress I found. So roughly two months... I went to many places- Kleinfelds, Wedding Salon of Manhasset, Bergdorf Goodman's, Michelle Roth, Amsale, Bridal Atelier, Clea Colet, and Clifford Michael in the city. Bridal Atelier had the dress and I LOVED IT!!!! I did not look any further- I highly recommendKleinfelds, Bridal Salon in Manhasset, Amsale, and Bridal Atelier, of course!!!

Do you have any idea of the look you want to go for? Princess look, Sophisticated, simply elegant, etc. . ..

Re: Need to look for a dress.
On average, most made-to-order gowns take 6 months from the order date to arrive. As for recommendations, I purchased my dress at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset and could not have been happier. Very professional and a pleasure to work with.I don't know what you look like, but based on what you've told us, I would suggest an a-line or princess style as they elongate the body. With princess styles, the vertical seams make you appear narrow. And if you are concered about your arms, believe it not, sleeves are not the best option as it draws more attention to that part of your body. If you must have sleeves, you should consider a style with sheer sleeves or better yet, get a matching wrap.
My dress was a strapless, princess style and it really did the job and I am not skinny, hate my arms and could stand to lose about 20 pounds. The styles I didn't like were those that cut me in half, with a seam running horizontally across my waist.
If you are leaning towards a fuller figure, my advice is simple is better. Show us a pic when you decide!

Re: Need to look for a dress.
I ordered my dress from Paradise Bridal in Patchogue.....they are wonderful and have a dress for every price range and body type.I ordered my dress in May and it still isn't in. My wedding isn't until November so I'm not in any rush.
I'd check them out.....all my girlfriends have gotten their dresses there and have all been very happy.
Good luck.

Re: Need to look for a dress.
I would think that you should go as soon as possible - at least just to try on all different types because the way the dresses look in the magazine may look totally different on, ya know? And at least it would give you the time to find the perfect dress and have it come in on time.
